Media begins to notice Biden is in the basement because he is incapable of sustaining a public appearance

Red States:
Joe Biden continues to hide in his basement, only appearing in public sparsely to read prepared speeches and answer no questions from the press. To some extent, the move works for him. He receives cover from the media while the focus remains on Trump. The rule in politics is that you want the election to be a referendum on the other guy. What better way to do that than to be invisible?

But that can’t last forever. Biden is going to have to start holding events again soon. Further, he’s going to have to debate Trump.

That was the point Maggie Haberman was making yesterday when she called Biden a “flawed candidate.” Namely, that things can change in a hurry and any Democrat thinking it’s a lay up is kidding themselves.
...
Meanwhile, Biden lacks a real operation in most of the swing states and it’s almost July. You can’t just snap your fingers in October and have a ground game. Haberman also points out how quickly things can change. Four months ago, the coronavirus wasn’t much of a concern. What will be the concern four months from now? It’s impossible to predict and things can turn on a dime.

Despite the fact that Haberman’s critiques are obviously true, those replying to the video still gnashed their teeth.
...
What’s so funny about this is that Maggie Haberman is clearly a Democrat. Heck, at the end of the video, she even has a Freudian slip “we” when talking about what Democrats need to do. She’s speaking from a place of fear that Trump could be re-elected, not in support of Trump. But the left hates her because she doesn’t sell them butterflies and roses all the time. (Emphasis added.)
...
Democrats seem to have made their whole strategy the continued demonization of Trump.  That is it.  It is all they got.  If they let dementia Joe out of the basement his flaws will be much harder to hide.  I suspect that the Democrats with bylines also noticed Trump's strong performance in Tulsa despite a smaller than expected crows in the Arena.  They should be paying attention to his larger than expected TV audience.

Joe could not get that many eyes on his if he left his basement and his whole team would be worried about him becoming incoherent after the second sentence he uttered.
