 Breitbart: A $100 grocery haul in 2019 costs almost $140 today — nearly 40 percent more for the same common items, causing consumers to “become creative to cope” with crippling inflation. According to a  Wall Street Journal   analysis  of NielsenIQ data on the prices of everyday foods such as meat, vegetables, starches, and snacks, Americans are facing a dramatic increase across all categories. “A Benjamin just isn’t what it used to be,” the  Journal’s  Stephanie Stamm and Jesse Newman wrote, alongside graphs showing that the average $100 grocery list now costs 36.5 percent more compared to five years ago. This means that in order to spend the same amount on food as they did in 2019, shoppers would have to place almost $37 worth of items back on the shelves before checking out.  Scripps News: Earlier this year, McDonald's said that it planned to reemphasize affordability in an effort to bring back low-income customers. "Providing our customers with affordable options has always been core to our brand, and it's even more important as consumers feel pressure on their spending, particularly the lower-income consumer," Ian Borden, McDonald's chief financial officer, said earlier this year. "We continue to listen to our customers by evolving our value offerings, maintaining strong perceptions in value for money and affordability." Other fast food chains also had major price hikes. The European Union has caved in to  angry protests from farmers  and cut a target to slash agricultural emissions as part of the bloc’s ‘net zero’ drive. A demand to reduce nitrogen, methane and other emissions linked to farming by almost a third has been  removed from a wider Brussels plan  to cut ‘greenhouse gas’ emissions by 90 per cent by 2040. On Tuesday, Ursula von der Leyen, the European Commission president,  also proposed withdrawing the EU’s plan to halve the use of pesticides, calling it a “symbol of polarisation” . “Our farmers deserve to be listened to,” she told the European Parliament. “I know that they are worried about the future of agriculture and their future as farmers. But they also know that agriculture needs to move to a more sustainable model of production so that their farms remain profitable in the years to come.” ...

 Fox News: Biden takes aim at grocery stores for 'ripping people off' amid continued high prices: 'Played for suckers' President Biden said that Americans are tired for being 'played for suckers' by grocery stores Biden is the one playing Americans for suckers.  Grocery prices did not increase significantly under Trump.  The prices went up when Biden took office and went on a gigantic spending spree that triggered inflation.  You might have noted that new cars and trucks also cost more because of Biden's inflation.  Food prices at restaurants also went up during Biden's inflationary spiral.  Tipp Insights: ... The annual CPI increase reported by BLS is 3.0% for June 2023. Compare this to the TIPP CPI of 16.0%, a 13.0-point difference. Prices have increased by 16.0% since President Biden took office. On an annualized basis, TIPP CPI is 6.6%. Food prices increased by 18.9% under Biden compared to only 5.7% as per BLS CPI, a difference of 13.1 points. TIPP CPI data show that Energy prices increased by 33.1%.  CNN Business: US grocery prices ticked up in May after dipping in March and April . Inflation in America continued to fall significantly, but rising prices at the supermarket is unwelcome news to those struggling to pay for food . From April to May, adjusted for seasonal swings, grocery prices got 0.1% more expensive, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics’ Consumer Price Index, a key measure of inflation. Menu items got 0.5% in that time. Overall, grocery prices were 5.8% more expensive in May than they were a year ago. Menu prices have risen 8.3% over the past year. Together, food prices jumped 6.7% throughout the year, once again outpacing overall annual inflation, which came in at 4% . Certain food items got quite a bit more expensive over the course of the year. Margarine spiked 22.5%, flour jumped 17.1%, bread spiked 12.5% and sugar rose 11.1%.  Daily Caller: The Dutch government is planning to buy and close down up to 3,000 farms near environmentally sensitive areas to be in compliance with EU environmental rules. It comes after farmer protests erupted this summer following a government plan to reduce nitrogen emissions by 50% by 2030, The New York Times reported . Farmers believe the measure unfairly targeted the agricultural sector, which is responsible for the largest portion of nitrogen emissions in the Netherlands, the Times added. The government will conduct a “compulsory purchase” of large nitrogen emitters as part of a voluntary, one-time offer, announced Nitrogen Minister Christianne van der Wal, Bloomberg reported .
