NY Times: Governor of Oregon Resigns Amid Scandal About Fiancée John Kitzhaber stepped down amid a scandal that included a criminal investigation of the role that his fiancée played in his administration. Here are the clues.  If the party identification is not in the headline or in the first paragraph of the story it is almost a certainty that the person is a Democrat, which in this case he is.  He seems a little old to be middle age crazy, but there is some evidence to support that contention.

NY Times: Evidence Points to Plagiarism by a Senator At least a quarter of the final paper required for Senator John Walsh of Montana’s master’s degree from the Army War College was appropriated without attribution. He is a Democrat.  How hard is it to give the source of your material?  I do it in every post.  In my own case I think it adds perspective to the post so readers can make their own decision about it.

Texas Tribune: For a region trying to salvage its reputation after being labeled a hotbed of public corruption, the news in Hidalgo County this week wasn’t good. Former Hidalgo County Sheriff Guadalupe “Lupe” Treviño, a nine-year veteran of the office and a fixture of the region’s Democratic Party, pleaded guilty on Monday to federal charges of money laundering. The  U.S. Attorney’s Office  for the Southern District of Texas said the former lawman “received cash contributions for his election campaign from alleged drug trafficker Tomas 'El Gallo' Gonzalez.” The plea came just two months after border Democrats very publicly admonished Republican attorney general and gubernatorial candidate  Greg Abbott  for comments he made likening corruption on the border to “third world” conditions. CNN: Charlotte mayor accused of bribery, extortion  Would you believe he is a Democrat?  You will not find that mentioned in the CNN story for some reason.  It is mentioned in the second paragraph of this Charlotte Observer story . There is also this story about corruption alleged against California Democrats.  In Illinois there is this story about a Democrat whose property was s earched  for a child porn collection. Democrats seem to be having a culture of corruption problem at the same time they are facing hostility from voters unhappy with Obamacare.

Big Three networks can't seem to identify the party of former New Orleans mayor.

Daily Mail: Democrat road safety chief forced to resign after SEVEN crashes and nine tickets Perhaps the roads will now be safer in Massachusetts.

Washington Post: Former congressional aide accused of drugging and sexually assaulting women About ten paragraphs into the story you find that the accused has worked for several Democrats and no Republicans were listed.  Perhaps that is why his party affiliation is not mentioned.  It goes against the Democrat and media narrative.

The county executive , a Democrat who was previously the county's top prosecutor , then told his wife, Leslie Johnson , to tear up a $100,000 check from the developer and stash tens of thousands of dollars in cash in her bra, authorities said in charging documents. The NY Times story on a small town restaurant in Rhode Island that wanted a permit to extend its hours for selling wieners to 3 a.m.omits certain facts. After the vote on this rather innocuous request was postponed a couple of times the owner is invited to city hall where he is told he is going to have to pay $5,000 to get his permit. He declines, but he is not the only victim of the shakedown and the FBI makes a case. There is no mention of the party identification of the three guys who had their hand out. We therefore have to assume they were Democrats until it is reported otherwise.

NY Times: The investigators from the District Attorney’s office showed up at the mayor’s house early Tuesday morning, arrest warrant and battering ram in hand, banging on the door. When the mayor, Oscar Hernandez, ignored their shouts – “Come out!” and “Put your hands up!” – they rammed down the door and arrested Mr. Hernandez on charges of looting the treasury of his own city to enrich himself. And it was not only Mr. Hernandez. To cheers and visible elation in this working-class town of small stucco homes south of Los Angeles, the authorities arrested eight former and current city officials of Bell – including the former city manager, who had been drawing an annual salary of nearly $800,000 – just after 8 a.m. on Tuesday. From the AP/San Antonio Express News: South Texas mayor arrested for prostitution The story does not mention party affiliation which is one clue that he is probably a Democrat.  The other clue is that he is from South Texas which is, unfortunately, an area still controlled by Democrats for the most part.

AP reports on the corruption in this town that dates back to Al Capone and shows no sign of abating, but party affiliation is never mentioned. That suggest to me that the perps could be Democrats.

A Massachusetts State Senator claims his tooth paste caused him to test positive in an alcohol screening exam. I don't think the judge is going to buy that one. BTW, he is a Democrat.

NY Times: J. P. Morgan Securities will forfeit hundreds of millions of dollars in fees on derivatives contracts that it sold an Alabama county, under a settlement announced Wednesday that could offer hope to other governments staggering under similar deals. The Securities and Exchange Commission charged in a lawsuit on Wednesday that J. P. Morgan had made unlawful payments to friends of Jefferson County’s commissioners in a scheme to win lucrative business from the county to sell bonds and trade in derivatives. The lawsuit also named two former J. P. Morgan employees. One of those men has already served a short prison term for manipulating similar bond deals in Philadelphia. To settle the lawsuit, J. P. Morgan will drop its claims for $647 million in termination fees it had been trying to make Jefferson County pay on the derivatives. The settlement also calls for J. P. San Antonio Express-News /Houston Chronicle: State Rep. Ismael “Kino” Flores, D-Palmview, has been indicted, accused of failing to disclose more than a half-million dollars in income as well as assorted high-value gifts and properties, Travis County prosecutors said on Friday. A grand jury returned six separate indictments against the 12-year legislator, each relating to required financial statements filed yearly since 2004. The six indictments contain a total of 16 charges of tampering with a governmental record and three counts of perjury. Flores did not return a call for comment. His office said they would issue a statement soon. The indictments allege Flores failed to disclose more than $152,000 in 2004, $125,000 in 2005, $115,000 in 2006, $135,000 in 2007, $185,000 in 2008 and $135,000 in 2009.
