 Trending Politics: A new batch of declassified documents reveals that President Joe Biden allegedly quashed an investigation into his family’s international business dealings right as opponents in Congress sought to expose them. CIA Director John Ratcliffe ordered the release of a report detailing how Ukrainian officials grew increasingly concerned over the Biden family’s business dealings in their country. In it, Biden, then the vice president, told CIA officials in 2015 he would “strongly prefer” that a summary of his family’s “corrupt” business dealings “not be disseminated” — a request that the Obama-era CIA honored at the time. In a statement, Ratcliffe cited the report as another example of the “politicization of intelligence” under the Obama administration. The discovery of the documents was made during a routine review of the agency’s historical files. Handwritten notes left at the suspect’s residence appear to confirm many of the initial beliefs investigators formed about why Joshua Jahn, 29, of Fairview, Texas, opened fire on the ICE detention center at approximately 6:30 a.m. A hail of bullets struck and killed one detainee while wounding two others who are currently undergoing treatment, according to U.S. Attorney Nancy Larson. The result of the shooting suggests that Jahn inadvertently targeted detainees despite explicitly stating in his notes that he wished to avoid “collateral damage” while targeting ICE officers he accused of “picking up a dirty paycheck” through the performance of their duties.  NY Post: Common wisdom holds that Democrats are likely to retake the House in next year’s midterms. Perhaps — that’s what history would suggest. But a recent poll shows that Republicans retain relative strength on important core issues. CNN’s Harry Enten summarized those data well in a recent appearance: Looking at the Washington Post/IPSOS poll, Enten found that Republicans retained a lead over Democrats on which party voters trust more to handle the economy, crime and immigration. The numbers aren’t close, either. The GOP leads the Democrats by 7 percentage points on the economy, 13 points on immigration and a whopping 22 points on crime. ... You would almost have to be willfully blind to vote for the Democrats on crime, immigration, or the economy.  These are some of the reasons that Democrats are currently polling in the 30s.
