Fetterman's growing support from GOP voters

DC Daily Journal: ... A fresh Quinnipiac poll dropped recently, revealing Democratic Pennsylvania Sen. John Fetterman’s surprising ascent among Republicans, outpacing his standing with his own party—a testament to his no-nonsense, independent streak that’s resonating in a divided Keystone State. The survey captures a whopping 54-point leap in GOP approval for Fetterman since 2024, mirroring trends from earlier polls that track his rising favor after bucking Democratic orthodoxy on key issues. Overall, his net approval among Pennsylvania voters clocks in at 46-38—a solid +8 edge—edging out last year’s 45-42 split. Republicans now back Fetterman 62-21, a dramatic flip from 2024’s 75-16 disapproval, while Democrats have soured to a 54-33 disapproval from an 80-10 thumbs-up. Independents hold steady at 43-43, nearly identical to the prior 42-43. Fetterman’s office didn’t respond right away to the Daily Caller News Foundation’s outreach, but his polling pivot speaks volumes about a se...

I think Trump's critics are losing credibility

David Thorton: Here's What's Behind Trump's Recent Polling Bump Thorton attributes the increased popularity mainly to the tax cuts.  I think they are a large part of the increase, but I also think the Russian collusion and "Obstruction of justice" arguments pushed by Democrat partisans have also lost their steam from a lack of evidence to support the allegations. A week after CNN was touting its own poll showing the lowest popularity ever, they went with a Marist poll showing the highest rating ever for Trump.  But if you look at the Rasmussen poll which gives Trump consistently higher approval numbers it shows a less volatile swing.  I think the less consistent polls have the same problem of polls during the campaign.  They reflect the attempts of Democrats to demonize Trump from time to time.  People become unwilling to associate with a demonized figure publicly although they do still support him.

Voters believe GOP will win in 2014

NY Times: Voters Expect Republican Wins, in Kansas and Elsewhere Historically, polls that ask whom voters expect to win have offered a better preview of election results than those that ask whom they want to win. One reason this is so revolves around pollsters attempt to develop models of who will turnout.  Do they use the 2010 model or the 2012 model.  In 2012 the Obama administration suppressed much of the Tea Party vote by using the IRS and other government agencies to tamp down their efforts and at the same time it was able to get a big turnout in the minority communities.  This year polling suggest a lack of enthusiasm in the minority community and an amped up Tea Party vote.  I think that is why voters expect the GOP to win.

Obama is losing his credibility

He has always had a credibility problem on certain issues, but he is now starting to lose personal credibility, which one pollster says puts him at a tipping point.
