Ron DeSantis (R) blasted a reporter Thursday for her apparent desire, and that of the broader media, to attack President-elect Donald Trump and give blameworthy Democratic leaders a pass in their coverage of the Golden State's devastating fires. A day after holding a closed-door meeting in Washington, D.C., with Republican senators, Trump hosted a dinner for 22 of America's 27 Republican governors at Mar-a-Lago, where he discussed various matters, including manufacturing concerns, the possible purchase of Greenland, the late President Jimmy Carter's funeral, and the fires in California. DeSantis’ remarks came in the wake of two hurricanes and several tornadoes hitting Florida in a short span. In response to the reporter’s question, DeSantis was quick to downplay the idea that these weather events were unprecedented. “I think you can go back and find tornadoes for all of human history,” he said, pointing out that Hurricane Milton, the most recent storm, was relatively weak compared to Florida’s historical hurricanes.  Red State: ... On Sunday afternoon DeSantis released a four-minute video announcing the suspension of his campaign and his endorsement of Donald Trump. ...  Washington Examiner: Nikki Haley may have moved into a tie with Gov. Ron DeSantis (R-FL) in the latest Des Moines Register poll , but a quick look at who Republicans say is their second choice shows she is not the one who can beat former President Donald Trump . The top-line numbers show Trump at 43%, DeSantis and Haley at 16%, and Sen. Tim Scott (R-SC) at 9%. But when asked who their second choice was, just 27% of DeSantis voters said Haley compared to 41% who said Trump. Meanwhile, for Haley supporters, 34% say DeSantis is their second choice, while just 12% say Trump. In other words, if DeSantis were to drop out, it would help Trump because DeSantis voters prefer Trump to Haley. But if Haley were to drop out, it would help DeSantis since most of her voters will never vote for Trump. Additionally, when asked which candidates they were considering voting for, Trump and DeSantis were tied at 67%.  Daily Wire: Newsom Team Appears Agitated That DeSantis Accepted Debate Challenge ... The proposal that Newsom sent to Fox News makes the first date that he is available to debate three months out, contrary to his claim that he only needed “one day’s notice.” ... I think it could be an interesting debate.  At this point, I think DeSantis has an advantage because his state is doing much better than California.  Newsom's state is losing population and Florida is gaining.
