Cuomo Book profit ordered to go to NY treasury

National Review: Andrew Cuomo Ordered to Turn Over $5.1 Million Book Profit to New York State ... In a near unanimous decision, a twelve to one vote, the New York Joint Commission on Public Ethics passed a resolution demanding that Cuomo return his earnings from the book, “American Crisis: Leadership Lessons from the COVID-19 Pandemic.” This comes a month after the panel rescinded its prior approval giving the now disgraced governor permission to keep the book side hustle while he was still serving as governor of New York, confronting multiple scandals simultaneously. ... This looks like another hit for the Cuomo clan.  He and his brother appear on the outs with the establishment.

The Cuomo family 'PR problems'

The Hill: CNN has suspended anchor Chris Cuomo indefinitely following new revelations about his involvement in the harassment case against his brother, former New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo (D). "The New York Attorney General’s office released transcripts and exhibits Monday that shed new light on Chris Cuomo’s involvement in his brother’s defense," CNN said in a statement to The Hill on Tuesday evening. "The documents, which we were not privy to before their public release, raise serious questions. When Chris admitted to us that he had offered advice to his brother’s staff, he broke our rules and we acknowledged that publicly. But we also appreciated the unique position he was in and understood his need to put family first and job second," the network said. "However, these documents point to a greater level of involvement in his brother’s efforts than we previously knew. As a result, we have suspended Chris indefinitely, pending further evaluation." Cuomo's abuse of power goes well beyond copping a feel of female employees

Tammy Bruce: Cuomo has more to account for than sexual harassment   Nursing home malfeasance, profiting off the government needs to be investigated ... Like President Richard Nixon, Mr. Cuomo’s resignation has nothing to do with him suddenly developing a conscience. Suppose he had one. None of this would’ve happened in the first place. What we get instead is a man who resigned because impeachment could bar him from running for state office again. Many remain dismayed, including me, that his policy specifically ordering COVID-19 infected individuals into nursing homes, which may have led to the deaths of 15,000 people, was not part of what led to outrage and resignation. As many observers have noted, this in and of itself has stained our social and political culture. That said, there are now at least three criminal investigations into Mr. Cuomo and his behavior with women. There remain state and federal investigations looking into various issues, including misuse of state...

What Cuomo said about sexual assault allegations against Kavanaugh

Power Line: Andrew Cuomo hasn’t been “credibly accused” of sexual harassment. He has been demonstrated to have indulged in it. Thus, it’s worth considering Cuomo’s pronouncements when Brett Kavanaugh was not so credibly accused of sexual misconduct allegedly committed when he was in high school. Cuomo had  this to say : The confirmation of Judge Kavanaugh to the Supreme Court is a sad day for this country, and it will haunt us for as long as he is on the court. Today 50 senators put partisan politics over the sanctity of the highest court in the nation. In November, the American people get to respond and make their voices heard. In New York, we will not waver and will not back down. To Dr. Christine Blasey Ford and all survivors of sexual assault, we believe you and we will fight for you. The sham FBI investigation and the bigger sham, this confirmation process, have energized us to fight even harder for our shared vision for a better future for all. . . . Cuomo also  in...

Prosecutors looking at Gov. Cuomo's order to put Covid patients in nursing homes

National Review: The U.S. Department of Justice has subpoenaed material related to a memoir that Democratic governor of New York Andrew Cuomo authored during the pandemic as part of an investigation into COVID deaths in the state’s nursing homes, people familiar with the situation said. The Wall Street Journal reported that prosecutors in the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of New York requested communications associated with Cuomo’s book, American Crisis, the newspaper’s sources said. Such materials included contracts and documents used during the pitching process to publishers. The people familiar with the case suggested that the subpoenas were issued because prosecutors wanted to probe the details of the nursing home debacle discussed the memoir. State officials who assisted with editing early versions of Cuomo’s book were among the individuals who received subpoenas for materials, the Wall Street Journal reported. Republican legislators have accused the Cuomo...

Cuomo accused of denying Covid tests to nursing homes while his relatives were given them

NY Post: The Cuomo administration largely ignored a county official’s pleas for COVID-19 tests for nursing homes at the pandemic’s height last spring — even as the governor allegedly secured the then-scarce tests for his relatives, The Post has learned. The slight is the latest stumble in Cuomo’s pandemic response, particularly with respect to nursing homes, where thousands of residents have died of confirmed or suspected cases of the coronavirus. Troubled by reports of COVID-19 running roughshod through nursing homes early in the pandemic, Jack Wheeler, the manager of upstate Steuben County, requested in April 2020 that the state Department of Health provide enough tests for every resident and staff member of three facilities in his jurisdiction. The DOH, however, only came through with enough supplies for one of the three facilities, Hornell Gardens, with the precious diagnostic tests then hard to find, Wheeler told The Post. That lackluster response came, as The Albany Times-U...

Cuomo accused of forcing Covid patients into homes for the disabled in New York

NY Post: It wasn’t just nursing homes. The Cuomo administration has spent the last year quietly allowing COVID-19 patients to return to homes for the disabled — much like it did with nursing homes — and the policy remains in effect. The state’s Office for People With Developmental Disabilities (OPWDD) issued a directive on April 10 barring the group homes from denying admission or re-admission to someone “based solely on a confirmed or suspected diagnosis of COVID-19.” The order also prohibits the facilities from requiring that a hospitalized individual be tested for COVID-19 before being admitted or re-admitted. At least 552 residents of such homes have died of the virus as of Wednesday. More than 6,900 out of the more than 34,552 who live in the facilities have been infected, the agency said. The guidance is similar to the controversial state Health Department order issued in the early days of the pandemic that required nursing homes to accept recovering COVID-19 patients from ...

The business of protecting Gov. Cuomo

Fox News: Families of female aides defending Cuomo rake in millions lobbying him   The aides have helped cover Cuomo during a snowballing sexual harassment scandal Two of Gov. Cuomo ’s top female aides, who have covered for him during a snowballing sexual harassment scandal , have family ties to high-powered lobbyists whose firms rake in millions of dollars lobbying the governor and those in his orbit. Cuomo’s powerful secretary, Melissa DeRosa, is married to Matthew Wing, his former press secretary who now serves as a top communications exec for Uber. Her father, Giorgio DeRosa, is a partner and chief Albany lobbyist for the influential Bolton St. Johns firm. Brother Joseph and sister Jessica also work at the firm. Chief of staff Jill DesRosiers, meanwhile, is life partner of Harry Giannoulis, president and co-founder of the Parkside Group — another Empire State lobbying behemoth. ... Sexual assault allegations against Biden worse than those against Cuomo, but he isn't running against Trump

Town Hall: On Friday, "Real Time" host Bill Maher had on radio host Charlamagne tha God. Maher disagreed with his guest when it came to the subject of sexual harassment allegations against New York Democratic Gov. Andrew Cuomo and President Joe Biden. A pair of former staffers who worked with Andrew Cuomo accused the governor of sexual harassment. Radio host Charlamagne tha God told Bill Maher that it's hard to be outraged over Cuomo's alleged behavior when the accusation leveled against President Biden is so much worse. "It’s kinda hard to ask Cuomo to resign when you voted for Joe Biden. If you weren’t more upset with Joe Biden, who had more serious allegations," said Charlamagne. Maher responded by saying he was unaware of more serious allegations made against Joe Biden, and that's when Charlamagne reminded Maher about Tara Reade . Reade worked as a staff assistant in Biden's Senate office from December 1992 to August 1993. Reade claims Biden ...

New York officials cooked the books to cover Cuomo's death count

National Review: Aides to New York Governor Andrew Cuomo rewrote a July report by state health officials to conceal the number of nursing home residents who died from coronavirus in the state, according to reports. Cuomo’s top aides worked to hide the fact that more than 9,000 nursing home residents had died from the virus in the state at the time, according to reports from the New York Times and the Wall Street Journal. The reports come as Cuomo has been embroiled in a number of scandals as of late, including investigations into both his mishandling of nursing homes during the pandemic and the alleged coverup that followed, as well as three sexual harassment allegations against the governor. A top aide to Governor Cuomo admitted last month that the administration covered up the true data on nursing home deaths from the coronavirus in New York state in order to hide the magnitude of the issue from federal authorities. Secretary to the Governor Melissa DeRosa apologized to state ...
