Sarah Palin looking good in Alaska race for House seat

Daily Wire; Former Alaska Republican governor and one-time vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin blew away a crowded field that included Santa Claus Saturday in the critical first round of a special election to fill the state’s sole seat in the U.S. House of Representatives. With 54.4% of the vote in, Palin had 32,371 votes to just over 20,000 for second-place finisher Nick Begich, brother of former Alaska senator Mark Begich and the favorite of the state’s GOP establishment. The field included 48 candidates vying to replace Rep. Don Young , who died in March. Palin, Begich, surgeon Al Gross, and one other candidate, likely Mary Pelota, will advance to the next round of the state’s first-ever ranked choice, non-partisan primary. “Thank you Alaska!” Palin tweeted late Saturday after securing the first-place finish. ... “I’m looking forward to the special general election so we can highlight our ideas for fixing this country by responsibly developing Alaska’s God-given natural...

Sarah Palin joins race for House seat from Alaska

Washington Examiner: Sarah Palin is back in politics. The former Alaska governor and 2008 GOP vice presidential nominee filed papers Friday to run for the state’s only House seat, recently held by Rep. Don Young, who died March 18. ... There are 40 other candidates for the congressional seat, but she may be the most well-known of the group.  I think she is a good conservative based on her time as Governor.

Palin trial screw up

Legal Insurrection: Tainted Verdict: Sarah Palin Jury Knew During Deliberations That Judge Was Going To Throw Out A Liability Verdict   The jurors “had involuntarily received ‘push notifications’ on their smartphones that contained the bottom-line of the ruling” It looks like she has a good issue for an appeal.

The NY Times embarrassing defense in Palin defamation case

Gregg Jarrett: It was an uneasy day for The New York Times on Tuesday as lawyers for Sarah Palin grilled the main witness during the fourth day of her defamation trial against the newspaper. Jurors learned just how irresponsible and reckless the editorial page of the Times is. There’s no dispute that the 2017 editorial blaming Palin for the shooting of Rep. Gabby Giffords in 2011 was wrong and a colossal screw-up. The newspaper readily admits that. But the Times claims it was just an “honest mistake.” The evidence suggests otherwise. The offending language was inserted at the last minute by James Bennet, who was head of the editorial page. He wrote that “the link to political incitement was clear” —that is, a map targeting districts held by Democrats sent out by Palin’s political action committee caused the shooting. But it was absolutely untrue. There was no proven link. Just the opposite. It was debunked long ago. Palin and her attorneys argue that Bennet is vastly expe...

Emails show Times ignored their own fact checkers in Palin editorial

Daily Mail: Damning emails between New York Times editors reveal they ignored fact checkers and admitted to 'sneaking a link' between Sarah Palin and the shooting of Rep. Gabby Giffords when they published editorial, former Alaska governor's defamation trial hears It looks like the Times should have settled this case.  If they avoid a verdict against the paper the court will have to jump through some hoops to do it.

How Sarah Palin provided the foundation for conservative success

Gordon Wysong: The Democrats don’t have lousy Presidential nominee candidates merely because the good ones were keeping their powder dry.  A Black Swan candidate of 2008 is appreciably responsible for it, and no one seemed to notice.  When Sarah Palin became the focus of the hopes of committed conservatives, the swamp did everything in its power to destroy her.  Venal Republican operatives were so beset with personal jealousy, they were willing to crash the ship on the rocks to ensure against her ascendancy. They won their battle, sadly.  But, a single line -- just one -- provided the foundation for conservatives.  Mrs. Palin told America “Do you know the difference between a hockey mom and a pit bull?  Lipstick!” In one succinct line she captured the commitment and determination of conservatives seeking to protect something they love. Fast forward a year, and those same conservatives saw Obama trying to destroy that which they love and withou...

The media is driving its own credibility into the dirt, Palin's lawyers should take note

Rod Dreher: Why People Hate The Media, Chapter MDCXIII ... No wonder some leading lights in the national media class hears Donald Trump give an ordinary speech taking a few paragraphs to praise the good things about Western civilization, and declare it to really be a farrago of dog-whistling about white supremacy. Left-winger attempts mass murder of Republicans: it’s the fault of right-wing talk radio. Radical Muslim massacres gays and lesbians, and says in a phone call from the murder scene that he’s doing it for ISIS: it’s the fault of Republicans. So, I guess if you get right down to it, Steve Scalise pretty much shot himself — right, Washington Post ? Better get a reporter right on that story. It shouldn’t be too hard to nail down, seeing as how you only need a single quote from somebody willing to speculate on the record. These people are so lost in their anti-conservative bigotry that they can’t tell up from down or right from wrong. ... Dreher's piece quotes the edi...

Sarah Palin vs. NY Times

Power Line: ... The Times said that Palin’s “incitement,” which it described wrongly, had a “clear” and “direct” connection to the murder of six people and wounding of several more. That is obviously a very serious charge. And yet, as the Times now admits, there is not a shred of evidence to support it. In fact, we don’t know whether the murderer, Jared Loughner, had ever heard of Sarah Palin. There is zero reason to think that he ever saw her political action committee’s map of “targeted” districts. So, how can accusing a person of having a “clear” and “direct” causal connection to six murders, without a shred of evidence, possibly be an “honest mistake”? Isn’t it a textbook case of reckless disregard? Ms. Palin can make a strong argument that the Times editorialists knew that their smear was a lie, based on reporting done by the Times itself. (The editorialists’ defense likely will have to be that they don’t read their own newspaper.) But at a minimum, it seems that the Tim...

Sarah Palin files defamation case against the NY Times

Daily Caller: Sarah Palin is suing The New York Times for defamation, according to documents filed in federal court Tuesday that were obtained by The Daily Caller . The lawsuit has to do with an editorial the NYT ran on June 14 that falsely smeared Palin as inciting the 2011 shooting of Democratic Rep. Gabby Giffords by a mentally ill man. There is no evidence to support the NYT ’s implication that Palin played a role in inciting the Giffords shooting. (RELATED: NYT Uses GOP Shooting To Falsely Attack Sarah Palin With Debunked Conspiracy Theory) “Mrs. Palin brings this action to hold The Times accountable for defaming her by publishing a statement about her that it knew to be false: that Mrs. Palin was responsible for inciting a mass shooting at a political event in January 2011,” Palin’s suit states. “Specifically, on June 14, 2017, The Times Editorial Board , which represents the ‘voice’ of The Times, falsely stated as a matter of fact to millions of people that Mrs. Palin incit...

Palin in sympathetic interview with Trump

Daily Mail: Former Alaska governor Sarah Palin has hit out at Univision anchor Jorge Ramos during an interview, branding him a 'dangerous activist'. Speaking about Ramos being ejected from a Trump press conference for shouting questions about immigration, Palin said: 'You sure schooled that radical activist. He's not doing that again.' Palin made her remarks while asking Trump about the unfair treatment she claimed conservatives receive from the media, asking The Donald whether he felt he was treated badly over the incident. Trump reminded Palin that he is currently suing Univision for $500million after cancelling his Miss Teen USA pageant following his remarks on Mexicans when he launched his campaign. He added: 'The press was actually quite good to me on that one, he was screaming and ranting and raving. I actually didn't know who he was at first. ... There is more. She has certainly had her own experience in dealing with a hostile media.  I do not ha...
