Biden thinks he can insult his way to unifying the country

 Red States:

Remember when Hillary Clinton spoke about many Trump supporters as a “basket of deplorables?”

Joe Biden had a little bit of that kind of a moment today while he was campaigning in Pennsylvania.

One of Biden’s pitches is that he’s going to be a unifier.

Except he’s been anything but, as he’s been nasty and lying about the president throughout his campaign. And it’s not only the president who Biden has attacked. He’s the only candidate I think I’ve ever seen actually insult voters to their faces, even essentially threatening to fight them. He’s called voters “fat,” “old,” “dog faced pony soldier,” “full of sh**” and even challenged that autoworker in Michigan to “go outside.” Whenever he is challenged, Biden snaps out at whoever does the challenging. It’s really astounding that Biden is painted by media as the one who is somehow nicer or more controlled, given this.

But he was trying on Saturday to pitch the idea that if he won he would work for all Americans whether they voted for him or not. Except he couldn’t even make it through the remark before he blew it and proved the opposite.

“I’ll work as hard for those who don’t support me as for those who do,” Biden declared. “Including those chumps with the microphone out there.”

Pro tip? Maybe when you want people to vote for you, you don’t call them “chumps” and even if you know they’re voting for the other guy, you don’t insult the Americans who are voting for your opponent.

Immediately, people saw a “deplorables” moment and dubbed themselves “Chumps for Trump.”

...

This is the same guy who also promised to kill the oil and gas business in Pennsylvania.  Based on past experience he should know that this kind of speech will not endear him to those most impacted by his war against fossil fuel.  It is the main reason Al Gore lost West Virginia and the Presidential election in 2000.  It is why Hillary's deplorable moment cost her votes in the industrial Midwest.  If Pennsylvania votes for him they are voting against the interest of their neighbors.
