Can Gender Stereotypes Be Headed Off in Preschool?

The Swedish curriculum urges teachers to “counteract traditional gender roles,” and at one school, girls are encouraged to shout “No!” and boys run the play kitchen.

This is abusive behavior that is trying to change people who do not need changing.  If males were against being in the kitchen when they grew up they would not dominate the chef jobs.  There is absolutely nothing wrong with traditional gender roles.  Nothing.  People have always been able to navigate their way to jobs they enjoy regardless of gender.  I am willing to bet that they are not sending the girls to play as soldiers in this program.  That is less of a traditional role for women than chefs in a kitchen.
