Supreme Court backs immigration raids

Reuters: The U.S. Supreme Court again backed President Donald Trump 's hardline immigration approach on Monday, letting agents proceed with Southern California raids targeting people for deportation based on their race or language in a ruling its liberal justices said makes Latinos "fair game to be seized at any time."  The court granted a Justice Department request to put on hold a judge's order that had barred agents from stopping or detaining people without "reasonable suspicion" that they are in the country illegally, by relying on race or ethnicity, or if they speak Spanish or English with an accent, among other factors. ... The court's brief and unsigned order, issued without any explanation, lifts the judge's restrictions while a legal challenge brought by a group of Latino people caught up in the raids plays out.  Trump's administration quickly vowed to continue "roving patrols." The Republican president returned to office in ...

The Democrats border blunder

Jeff Charles: Democrats know they messed up big time on immigration. Now they are trying to figure out how to fix their many mistakes on the issue. The New York Times interviewed several Democratic lawmakers who acknowledged that the party essentially ceded the issue to President Donald Trump and Republicans who put forth solutions to address the border crisis that ballooned under the Biden administration. The article notes how Americans’ attitudes toward legal and illegal immigration have shifted over recent decades. It notes that 55 percent of Americans supported a decrease in immigration last year, according to a Gallup poll. The author notes that this is “nearly twice as many as in 2020, and the first time since 2005 that a majority had said so.” Rep. Vicente Gonzalez (D-TX) told The New York Times , “When you have the most Latino district in the country outside of Puerto Rico vote for Trump, that should be a wake-up call for the Democratic Party.” Sen. Ruben Gallego (D-AZ) p...

Dems losing Hispanic voters

Real Clear Politics: Former Obama senior advisor Dan Pfeiffer fretted on "Pod Save America" Friday's episode that "Democrats are in a huge bit of trouble" with Latino voters. DAN PFEIFFER, POD SAVE AMERICA: The main story of this is that Democrats are in a huge bit of trouble. There's no way to look at this without recognizing the massive scale of our problems. And you can kind of tell yourself that things might be kind of okay by looking at just the shift from 20 to 24. But if you really want to assess where we are as a party, you have to look at the shift from 2016 to 2024. And it is particularly true with Latino voters. Or 2012. Even with Latino voters, actually, is the one group where Hillary Clinton did better than Obama. Two points better. But so in 2016, Hillary Clinton won 70% of Latino vote. Kamala Harris won 54%. It's a 16-point drop. And you would like to think that this is all about men. It's not all about men. Latinos moved 17 points in...

Trump's remarkable improvement with Hispanic voters

Washington Examiner: Starr County Texas is the most Latino county in the US.  It is 97.7 % Hispanic.  Trump was able to win a majority of votes in the county that normally votes heavily for Democrats.  It gives you some idea of Trump's broad support in this election. Texas Hispanics voting red this year

Red State: For decades, Democrats have relied on the votes of black and Hispanic voters to keep them in office. The constant drumbeat of "Republicans are racist!" doesn't seem to be working anymore as those voters struggle in the Biden-Harris economy. While Democrats' wildest dream might be to turn the Lone Star state blue, it's the exact opposite of what appears to be happening. A definite shift happening among Hispanic voters in Texas could spell trouble for the Democrats in the 2024 election and beyond. ... The Rio Grande Valley (RGV) is an area that directly borders Mexico. The population is primarily Hispanic, and traditionally, it has been heavily Democratic. But that appears to be changing. Residents who describe themselves as lifelong Democrats are increasingly at odds with their party. The soaring cost of living in one of the nation's poorest areas and disagreement with Democrats on cultural issues have these lifelong Democrats taking a look at the...

Trump's growing support in Pennsylvania with Hispanics

Real Clear Politics: Sunday on "Meet The Press," NBC elections analyst Steve Kornacki ran down some of the voter registration data and demographic polling in Pennsylvania that sounds like pretty good news for the Trump campaign. "Some people call this the Latino belt of Pennsylvania. These are counties that have some small to mid-sized cities with rapidly growing Latino populations. And we've been talking about Trump improving, relative to 2020 and 2016, among Hispanic voters. Well, you can see it," he said about the Reading-Allentown area of Eastern Pennsylvania. "Reading, Pennsylvania is 70% Latino. It was overwhelmingly Democratic in 2020, Joe Biden won by 45 points. But look, that's down almost 20 points from 2012. Hazelton, Pennsylvania, is more than 60% Hispanic. In 2012, Democrats won it narrowly, it's now a double-digit Trump place. Allentown has come down 10 points in its margin for Democrats." ... I doubt much of Kamala Harris's ...

Trump's Hispanic support

PJ Media: ... Quezada also told the reporter that prior to the fundraiser, he attended a funeral for a friend who died from a fentanyl overdose, another tragedy resulting from the lax border policies of the Biden-Harris administration. ... Democrats are making a mistake if they take Hispanic support for granted.  Hispanic Americans are patriotic and hard workers.  I grew up around them in south Texas and also worked with many of them when I was an officer in the Marine Corps.  There were several Hispanics in my company in Vietnam.

Soros money backing Texas Dems

Gateway Pundit: George Soros is striking again. The progressive billionaire — who has poured a fortune into electing prosecutors who have destroyed criminal justice systems across the United States — is turning his attention to Texas, according to a Fox News report. And the first Mexican-born woman to serve in the U.S. House has a warning about why Soros is doing it. With President Joe Biden’s disastrous open-border policy failure to win over Hispanic voters — a failure reflected in Biden’s polling numbers — Soros is putting new millions into a state Democrats are trying to flip to their control. “They’re seeing that Hispanics are shifting towards the Republican Party because they’re realizing that we are the party of prosperity, that we want to build a strong economy, that we want to secure the border, that we want to prioritize the people of this country and not prioritize people from outside this country,” former Rep. Mayra Flores told Fox. “And I believe that it’s our polic...

Biden now losing a majority of Hispanic voters

The Hill: Former President Trump leads President Biden among Hispanic and young voters, a new survey found. The survey, conducted by USA Today and Suffolk University, found that heading into a critical election year, Biden trails with several of the key demographics that helped him win the White House in 2020. Biden earned 34 percent support among Hispanic voters surveyed, compared with Trump’s 39 percent. That marks a large decline since 2020, when Biden earned 65 percent of the demographic group. The president has also lost support from Black voters. After carrying 87 percent support in the demographic in 2020, Biden now has just 63 percent, the survey found. His support from younger voters has dropped as well. In 2020, Biden crushed Trump by 24 points among the group. But the survey found that Trump now leads among voters under 35 with 37 percent support to Biden’s 33 percent. ... I suspect that Biden is not the only Democrat who is losing support among Hispanics and other min...

Dems losing Hispanic support

Mike Gonzales: The Spanish-language network Univision interviewed former President Donald Trump this month and allowed him to respond to questions without interruption or personal attacks. It was like every interview the legacy media have conducted with President Joe Biden or Hillary Clinton . So, of course, leftist Latino groups, terrified this shift reflects the changing political views of Univision’s audience, are throwing a hissy fit. More than 70 Democratic Party-affiliated groups and some individuals, including the actor John Leguizamo, have signed a letter crying foul. This includes left-of-the-left groups such as La Raza (now going by the name UnidosUS), the Mexican American Legal Defense and Educational Fund, and the Congressional Hispanic Caucus. The Washington Post reported that more than 70 groups sent the letter last Friday to Wade Davis, a Univision executive, and other executives at the media company. Univision, which is formally known as TelevisaUnivision after...

Hispanics migrating to GOP

Fox News: The biggest story of Hispanic Heritage Month, which began last Friday, is that Hispanics are coming home to the Republican Party . Earlier this month, the New York Times published a bombshell article headlined "Consistent Signs of Erosion in Black and Hispanic Support for Biden." The piece chronicles the ongoing political migration among minorities, especially Hispanics, from Democrats to Republicans. It highlights twelve "high-quality" 2024 election polls that show Biden holds a mere 50% to 40% lead among Hispanic voters. That's down significantly from the 65% of Hispanics who voted for him in 2020. This polling destroys the media narrative that Republicans are a racist party. It debunks Democrats' Great Replacement theory, which posits that America's increasing number of minorities and immigrants will inevitably generate an enduring Democrat majority. ... The Biden economy has been a negative for most Americans and Hispanics are no exception...

Inflation causing Hispanic voters to flee Biden

Fox News: A new Fox News poll shows President Biden is struggling to maintain support among Hispanic voters, as a panel of voters told " Fox & Friends " on Friday that inflation is driving them away from the party. According to the pol l, only 46% of Hispanic voters currently choose Biden for president in 2024, compared to 63% of the same group in 2020. In comparison, 37% of Hispanic voters support Donald Trump for 2024, compared to 35% in 2020. Americans for Prosperity Texas' Tina Aviles, American University graduate J.P. Villasmil and Christian author Lydia Dominguez explained why Biden is struggling with voters in the Latino community. Dominguez, who is also a mother and Air Force veteran , said she has noticed prices going up and that people in her community are "totally upset with what's going on." "I see people in my community that are going out and getting second and third part-time jobs. It's incredibly sad," said Dominguez. ... Th...

Open borders Dems say Biden policy too restrictive?

Fox News: Dem Hispanic caucus takes aim at Biden admin's border moves, as left-wing backlash builds The administration has faced broad criticism from the left on the asylum rule The majority of Americans think the Biden policy is not restrictive enough because it ignores US immigration laws.  BTW, border Hispanics are opposed to the open borders policy. Dems losing Hispanic vote in Texas

Karl Rove: Why South Texas Hispanics Are Going GOP New polling suggests Democrats are out of touch on immigration, the border and the economy. For decades, Texas Republicans have worked to improve their party’s standing in South Texas, a heavily Hispanic region where voters—despite being religious, patriotic, entrepreneurial and pro-family—routinely come out by big margins for Democrats. The GOP theory is that every additional Republican vote there is worth two because it takes away a reliably Democratic one. Though the GOP has been generally satisfied with its labors, the party has often remained deeply underwater in South Texas even when it has swept the state. Now that’s changing and in no small part thanks to Democratic policies, particularly on the border, economy and energy. ... I grew up in the Lower Rio Grande Valley and found most Hispanics to be patriotic Americans who were willing to fight for this country. As an officer in the Marine Corps who fought in Vietnam, it was...

People of color choosing red

Politico: Both parties warned for months of an imminent red wave among voters of color, forecasting that the GOP would build further on gains made in the 2020 presidential race. But while every racial group moved right this year, especially among men, the shift fell short of expectations. And Democrats should be wary of declaring victory on this front and moving on, multiple strategists said, noting that any erosion among the party’s core constituencies should be taken seriously — and addressed with more planning and purpose ahead of the 2024 presidential race. Terrance Woodbury, CEO of progressive research firm HIT Strategies, credited new voters from 2018 and 2020, as well as younger voters, for showing up for Democrats on Tuesday to buck the earlier projections. “Our initial take is that while Democrats have stopped the bleeding among people of color, they haven’t reversed the trend,” he said. Democrats won among Black, Hispanic and Asian and Pacific Islander voters in the 2022...

The GOP had significant gains with Black and Hispanic voters

Daily Caller: Republicans made massive gains with young black and Hispanic voters during the midterm elections, according to an exit poll by The Associated Press. Young Hispanic voters shifted 18% toward Republicans and young black voters shifted 22% toward Republicans, according to the AP exit poll . A late October poll by USA TODAY/Suffolk University showed that at least 40% percent of Hispanic voters and 21% of black voters would support a Republican candidate in the midterm elections, citing rising inflation and the economy as key issues that will shift their vote. (RELATED: IN THEIR OWN WORDS: Why Hispanics And Latinos Are Shifting Right) ... The shift in black and Hispanic voters seemed to puzzle many Democrats on Election Day with NBC’s national political reporter Marc Caputo stating that hispanics were “behaving like working class whites.” ... This shift has the potential of being a long-term problem for Democrats  The Biden economy is largely responsible for the ...

Education behind Hispanic move to GOP

Fox News: There’s a growing trend in America catching the attention of astute political observers and candidates alike: Hispanic voters are leaving the Democratic Party in droves. It’s a voting bloc many Democrats have relied on to win elections, so why is this change happening? There are no doubt many reasons, but it’s clear that education is among the top motives. Many Democrats, on the other hand, keep insisting that immigration is the only issue we care about. Although immigration does matter, it is not the only issue important to our community. We also care about the reasons we immigrate to begin with. A fair chance at a decent living supersedes many other issues, and a good living often correlates with a quality education. For Hispanic-Americans, our values are deeply rooted in faith, family and freedom. And we believe that opportunity for our children is nurtured through a high-quality education. Dems losing the Hispanic vote

John Sexton: The Atlantic published a lengthy story about this topic today. Author Tim Alberta opens the piece by describing how one Phoenix couple, Mary Rose and Earl Wilcox, set out to become a focal point for Hispanic activism on behalf of the Democratic Party for more than 20 years. But recently something changed and not in the way  they expected . Finally, in 2020, a breakthrough: Joe Biden didn’t just win the election, he won  Arizona , only the second time since Harry Truman’s administration that a Democrat had carried the state. Given Biden’s winning margin—three-tenths of a percentage point—and the unprecedented turnout of Hispanic voters, there could be no disputing who had delivered Arizona to the president-elect… On Election Night 2020, they toasted to a new era. And then the strangest thing happened. People started coming into El Portal to vent their frustrations and unload their grievances— against the Democratic Party . “Our community, we may not be educ...

Media, Democrats slur against Hispanic and black Republicans

Fox News: Non-White Republicans have been dismissed and demonized by Democrats and their mainstream media allies simply because they favor conservative views while simultaneously being Black or Hispanic, and they say they've had enough. "It's unbelievable to see the media treat us this way," Republican candidate for Congress in Texas' 28th District Cassy Garcia told Fox News Digital. As the midterms finally come to a close with Election Day next week, they're taking stock of some of the coverage they've seen from mainstream outlets and pundits. And it's often not been pretty. Garcia believes many media members simply assume Black and Hispanic Americans should be Democrats. She pointed to ABC News’ "The View" co-host Sunny Hostin saying earlier this year that a Black Republican was an "oxymoron" and she didn't "understand" Black or Latino conservatives as a key example. ABC'S SUNNY HOSTIN CONDEMNED BY BLACK, LATI...
