Texas teachers who supported Kirk assignation could lose jobs

Newsmax: Texas Republican Gov. Greg Abbott and the Texas Education Agency (TEA) have announced that more than 100 educators are under investigation and could face suspension of their teaching certifications for social media posts related to the assassination of conservative leader Charlie Kirk. The TEA said it is reviewing at least 180 complaints alleging that teachers posted comments online that celebrated Kirk's death or called for violence. If investigators determine those posts violate the state's educator code of ethics, the teachers could lose their certification and be barred from working in public schools. Abbott, in a statement, condemned the educators' actions as "abhorrent" and said Texas would not tolerate teachers who "use their platforms to incite violence." ... Celebrating the murder of Charlie Kirk is more than a mistake.  It is abhorrent.  Those responsible for doing that should be held accountable.

Texas redistricting battle

Federalist Wire: ... The battle over redistricting in Texas intensified on August 5, 2025, when Republican Governor Greg Abbott submitted an emergency petition to the Texas Supreme Court, seeking the ouster of Democratic House leader, state Representative Gene Wu, following a mass exodus of Democratic lawmakers aimed at blocking a Republican-led redistricting effort. On August 3, over 50 Democratic legislators left Texas to prevent a quorum, halting a vote on a redistricting plan backed by President Donald Trump. The proposal aims to reconfigure Texas’s 38 congressional districts to favor Republicans, potentially flipping five seats currently held by Democrats in the 2026 midterm elections. Abbott’s legal action claims that Wu and other Democrats who fled the state have effectively abandoned their posts, warranting their removal. The governor’s petition specifically targets Wu, arguing his leadership role amplifies the impact of his absence. The governor further accused Wu and his...

Sen. Kennedy says Dem lunacy good for GOP, but not US

American Action News: Republican Louisiana Sen. John Kennedy appeared on Newsmax Wednesday and said he’s concerned that the increasingly extreme positions of some Democratic lawmakers could simultaneously bolster the Republican Party but still damage the country. In a speech at the Human Rights Campaign event on Monday evening, Democrat Texas Rep. Jasmine Crockett stepped up to the podium to voice her criticisms of the Republican leaders in her state and called Republican Texas Gov. Greg Abbott , who uses a wheelchair, “Governor Hot Wheels” and described him as a “hot ass mess.” During an appearance on “The Record with Greta Van Susteren,” Kennedy said that despite the political gains, he’s concerned for the country’s well-being. “They got beat in the election. And I thought they’d hit rock bottom, but apparently rock bottom has a basement,” Kennedy said. “All this is great for the Republican Party, all this lunacy, but it’s bad for America. And I wish they’d stop it. But, you kn...

The Jasmine Crockett lows

Red State: The Democrats have acted despicably since Donald Trump returned to the Oval Office, repeatedly calling for violence, discovering a newfound love of profanity, and holding impotent protests against virtually everything. Their lowest moment came at the  president’s speech to a joint session of Congress  in February when they refused to stand for a 13-year-old cancer survivor or honor the memories of two women viciously murdered by illegal aliens.  It turns out that may not have been their nadir, however, because as we’ve been reporting, Texas Rep. Jasmine Crockett has been on a tear lately with unhinged threats, crass NSFW rhetoric, and general awful behavior seemingly designed to launch herself to the top of the pantheon of the most toxic members of Congress. Over the weekend, she cruelly mocked Greg Abbott as “Governor Hot Wheels” in reference to the partial paralysis that confines him to a wheelchair, a result of a tragic accident that occurred in his 2...

Texas Gov. Abbott on Trump VP list

Daily Mail: Trump says Texas Governor Greg Abbott is 'absolutely' on his VP shortlist after border trip: Ex-president adds another name to the shortlist and praises one of the favorites Tim Scott I like both Abbott and Scott.  Both are vastly superior to Kamala Harris or Joe Biden.

Abbott busing scheme effective in changing Dem border policy?

Breitbart: On Friday’s broadcast of CNN’s “Inside Politics,” CNN Senior Political Commentator and former Obama Adviser David Axelrod stated that President Joe Biden has shifted positions on immigration because Democrats have moved on the issue because busing migrants to sanctuary cities “has been very effective” in getting Democrats to flip. Host Dana Bash said, “[T]he change is that more and more Democrats are taking — voters — are taking a hard line. It looks as though the White House, the President is seeing that and kind of following their lead.” Axelrod responded, “Yes. Two points on this: Whatever you think about what Gov. Abbott (R) has done, it was diabolically clever, because by shipping these migrants to cities that call themselves…sanctuary cities, he has created issue[s]. I come from Chicago. Chicago has been torn apart by this issue. New York has been torn apart by this issue. And suddenly, Democrats are engaged in this issue in a different way than they had been.... ...

'Sanctuary cities, states' come regret their virtue signaling

Washington Examiner: Massachusetts has now declared a state of emergency after placing more than 20,000 illegal immigrants in the state’s shelter system. Gov. Maura Healey (D-MA) cited the “rapid and unabating increases in the number of families with children and pregnant people” arriving in Massachusetts, a state with eight sanctuary cities that can’t handle a fraction of the illegal immigration that border towns and states have been dealing with for years. At the same time, Chicago is asking for more federal funding to deal with the illegal immigrants that the sanctuary city invited to the country but evidently didn’t want to have to deal with itself. Chicago officials are refusing to disclose how the city has spent $120 million on illegal immigrant arrivals, even ignoring multiple inquiries from the Illinois attorney general. Chicago has received about 12,000 illegal immigrants since last year and is receiving 40-50 of them per day from Texas, a laughable fraction of what T...

Gov. Abbott says Biden troops to border are too little and too late

The Hill: Texas Gov. Greg Abbott (R) slammed the Biden administration’s move to send 1,500 troops to the southern border, arguing the president was sending the soldiers to “do paperwork” and not “secure the border.” “President Biden is sending 1,500, quote, soldiers to do paperwork, and he’s not going to secure the border,” Abbott said in an interview with Fox News Sunday. ... “We do not need 1,500 soldiers,” Abbott said. “We need 15,000 or 150,000 to secure the border because of the open border policies of the Biden administration.” When pressed on accepting similar types of reinforcements from the Trump administration, Abbott said he supported the move from the Republican president because “President Trump sent soldiers to the border to secure the border.” “This is a day late and tens of thousands of soldiers too few,” Abbott said. ... Biden's border policy is a disgrace that is now being felt across the country as the migrants are shipped to cities far from the border.  Bi...

Gov. Abbott declares invasion at Texas-Mexico border

Houston Chronicle: Texas Gov. Greg Abbott has invoked the Invasion Clauses of the U.S. and Texas Constitutions to formally declare illegal immigration at the state's Mexico border an invasion. In a letter sent out Monday , Abbott notified county judges along the Texas-Mexico border that he will "fully authorize Texas to take unprecedented measures to defend our state against an invasion." The recently reelected governor also shared portions of the letter on Twitter Tuesday morning. In the letter, Abbott outlined steps that will be taken by the state under his constitutional authority to "keep the state and country safe," which include deploying the National Guard and Texas Department of Public Safety to arrest and turn away immigrants crossing the U.S.-Mexico border, building a border wall along counties on the border, deploying gun boats to secure the border, entering agreements with other U.S. states and foreign powers to enhance border security, and provid...

The DeSantis lesson in how to win

Michael Barone: ... The biggest winner of election 2022 was Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis. Four years ago, he carried Florida 50%-49%, by just 32,000 votes, and he has been under repeated attack by the national press for his policies on COVID, concentrating on protecting the elderly and insisting on open schools and outdoor activities, and for a bill forbidding overt sexual material in kindergarten through third grade. His mettle was tested when Hurricane Ian attacked southwest Florida on Sept. 28 at a point not predicted by meteorologists (weather experts have improved greatly in recent decades but aren’t perfect). He got the Pine Island bridge repaired within three days and the Sanibel Island bridge repaired in three weeks rather than the predicted three months . He didn’t just promise to build things — he delivered. This year, DeSantis won reelection by 19 points, a 1,506,000-vote margin, in the state that George W. Bush carried in 2000 by a 537-vote margin after 35 days of recoun...

Greg Abbott won easy reelection as Texas Governor

Houston Chronicle: Texas Gov. Greg Abbott won reelection over Democratic challenger Beto O'Rourke on Tuesday night, securing the incumbent Republican a third term as Texas' highest executive. The Texas Tribune called the race in favor of Abbott around 9:45 p.m. CT on Tuesday night. Final figures were not available as some votes remained outstanding. Abbott entered Tuesday's election with a sizeable polling advantage over his opponent. A University of Houston poll published on Tuesday, Nov. 1 found Abbott led O'Rourke 53 to 40 percent among likely voters just a week out from election day. ... Liberals spending big bucks on Abrams and O'Rourke

Daily Wire: Democrats Stacey Abrams and Robert Francis “Beto” O’Rourke raised tens of millions of dollars, despite campaigns on track to get crushed in the 2022 midterms. Neither O’Rourke nor Abrams have led in any major public polling for the entirety of the 2022 election cycle. But new fundraising numbers for both campaigns show that O’Rourke raised more than $76.5 million through the end of October, while Abrams raised more than $97 million through October. Both candidates have a history of record-breaking fundraising, despite previous losing campaigns. According to a report from the Corpus Christi Caller Times , O’Rourke outraised incumbent Republican Texas Governor Greg Abbott by about $1.5 million in the month of October. In the last 30-day reporting period, from September 30 through October 29, O’Rourke took in $10.5 million, while Abbott took in just $9 million. O’Rourke raised more than Abbott in each of the last three reporting periods, and currently has more cash on h...

Florida to continue exporting illegals to Dem cities

Town Hall: Gov. Ron DeSantis (R-Fla) is doing his part in making sure Americans are fully aware of what President Joe Biden’s open border policies are doing to the country. According to a Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) purchase order, the state expects to continue to relocate illegal migrants to Democrat-run cities for at least another eight months. The purchase order was signed between FDOT and Vertol Systems Company, a transportation service provider, to ship illegal immigrants elsewhere until June 30, 2023. However, according to the contract, the FDOT can cancel the purchase order at any time if it finds that it is not satisfied with Vertol Systems' work. “The proposed Services include, but are not limited to, Project management, aircraft, crew, maintenance logistics, fuel, coordination and planning, route preparation, route services, landing fees, ground handling and logistics, and other Project-related expenses,” the contract says. Florida has allocated $12 milli...

Abbott designates drug cartel as terrorist organization

The Center Square: Leaders in Texas and Washington, D.C., lauded Texas Gov. Greg Abbott’s designation of Mexican drug cartels as foreign terrorist organizations, a move they argue is not only necessary to protect Texans and Americans but one they hope will lead to the governor declaring an invasion at the southern border. “Fentanyl is a clandestine killer, and Texans are falling victim to the Mexican cartels that are producing it,” Abbott said Wednesday at a border summit in Midland, Texas, surrounded by law enforcement. “Cartels are terrorists, and it’s time we treated them that way. In fact, more Americans died from fentanyl poisoning in the past year than all terrorist attacks across the globe in the past 100 years. In order to save our country, particularly our next generation, we must do more to get fentanyl off our streets.” Abbott also sent a letter to President Joe Biden requesting that he designate the cartels as foreign terrorist organizations under Section 219 of the Im...

DeSantis brilliant move in sending migrants to Martha's Vineyard

Hugo Gurdon: What made the Left so furious when Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis flew 50 migrants to Martha’s Vineyard? It got under liberal skin more than Texas Gov. Greg Abbott dropping a couple of busloads on Vice President Kamala “The Border is Secure” Harris’s doorstep in Washington, D.C., although liberals excoriated that, too. It can’t have been an objection in principle, for leftists defend President Joe Biden busing thousands of migrants to small Texas border towns and stranding them there. They’re cool also with him tricking illegally migrating Haitians on to planes bound for the Caribbean “s***hole" the victims haven’t lived in for years. And you hear no griping from bien pensants of the Left when Democratic mayors in Texas add to Abbott’s northward transports to New York City. The lefties also accuse DeSantis of cruelty, but you have to fall into the common error of assuming one’s political opponents are stupid to think they believe this. Attorney Rachel Self, briefing the...

Abbott fires back at Biden over migrant issue

Fox News: Texas Governor Greg Abbott's office is responding to White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre after she said that Republican governors sending migrants to Martha's Vineyard and Washington, D.C., are preforming an "illegal stunt." Abbott's office said in response that the White House is led by the "Hypocrite-in-Chief." "The White House is full of a bunch of hypocrites, led by the Hypocrite-in-Chief who has been flying planeloads of migrants across the country and oftentimes in the cover of night," Abbott's Press Secretary Renae Eze told Fox News Digital. Eze said that the migrants willingly chose to be put on a bus to Washington, D.C., and signed a waiver form that was available in multiple languages. "These migrants willingly chose to go to Washington, D.C., having signed a voluntary consent waiver available in multiple languages upon boarding that they agreed on the destination. And they were processed and released...

Gov. Abbott not the only one upset with Biden's border policies

Washington Examiner: Democratic mayors keep piling border pressure on Biden administration The mayors are unlikely to get any relief from Biden.  They should be talking to Congress about the impeachment of the scofflaw President who refuses to enforce US immigration law and defend the border.  See, also: Biden’s inhumane open-border policies devastate Americans, illegal immigrants Fentanyl, violent crime plague Americans thanks to Biden's open border policies And:  One Million Migrants: Biden's Asylum Abuse The NY Times details the asylum flood into our homeland as the Left exploits America's generosity.

Gov. Abbott exposes the virtue signaling left

Charles Lipson: The surest sign that public policies are simply virtue signals is when the messages don't cost anything. The easiest way to tell when that signal starts to fail is to watch politicians flounder as the costs start to rise and voters demand relief. It was free—and meaningless—for progressive churches to post banners calling themselves "nuclear free zones" during the Reagan era. Their dwindling congregations loved it. It was free, after George Floyd 's murder, to post woke catechism signs on your front lawn, proclaiming "In this house, we believe: Black Lives Matter , women's rights are human rights, no human is illegal" and so on. Maybe the neighbors gave you high-fives. And for years it has been free for deep-blue cities to proclaim themselves "sanctuaries" for illegal immigrants. That's changing now that voters want some sanctuary for themselves. Changes like this happen when voters realize the old virtue signals actually e...

Abbott joins Biden in sending migrants to New York

Red States: ... The White House was upset by the move by Texas and Arizona but then got  nailed for their hypocrisy  when they tried to explain how busing to D.C. was any different than flying illegal aliens to New York, as the Biden team has been doing. Abbott then announced he would be broadening out the program — not just sending the illegal aliens to D.C. but  also to other cities. Now the first bus from Texas has arrived in NYC and Abbott has issued a statement, “Biden refuses to do his job, so Texas continues to take unprecedented action to secure our border. NYC is the ideal destination for these migrants. They can receive the services Mayor Adams has boasted about w/in the sanctuary city.” ... “I hope he follows through on his promise of welcoming all migrants with open arms so that our overrun and overwhelmed border towns can find relief,” Abbott said about Adams in his statement. Texas sent them to the Port Authority Bus Terminal at Gate 14. That’s the place tha...
