 Trending Politics: A ponytailed man from New Hampshire plotting to assassinate his state’s Republican governor has been arrested after authorities uncovered a digital trail of evidence containing his threats. Tristan Anderson, 22, is accused of threatening to kill Gov. Kelly Ayotte using homemade pipe bombs, devices that authorities described as a “weapon of mass destruction.” According to prosecutors, Anderson first came on the radar of authorities after allegedly boasting about his bomb-making skills to a roommate on Snapchat, where he displayed materials for his handiwork. An arrest warrant for Anderson states that he has previously complained about an “Israel Deep State” running the state and federal governments. A string of racially-tinged commentary spoke to his ire for Jewish Americans, prosecutors said in court this month, and pointed to Anderson’s messages directing his anger at Ayotte, who is Catholic.  American Action News: About seven in ten voters who backed former Ambassador to the United Nations Nikki Haley in the New Hampshire primary were not Republican, according to a CNN exit poll. Former President Donald Trump won the primary after he secured a record-setting victory in the Iowa caucuses Jan. 15., winning the New Hampshire race by a roughly nine point margin, according to The Associated Press.  The Hill: New Hampshire Attorney General John Formella (R) issued a cease-and-desist order on Monday to the Democratic National Committee and warned Democratic officials to stop telling voters the state’s primary is “meaningless,” which Formella said violates the state’s voter suppression laws. NY Times: New Hampshire Women Lose State Supreme Court Battle to Go Topless In a 3-2 ruling, the justices ruled that a city ordinance barring women from showing their nipples was not a form of discrimination based on gender. I have to admit that from the time I was born to this day over 74 years later I have never found nipples offensive.  In a place like New Hampshire, I suspect exposing them would be a seasonal matter and a short one at that.

Trump crushes his potential Republican opponents in head-to-head matchups in New Hampshire, and the president’s loyal followers aren’t wavering despite an onslaught of media attacks, a new poll shows. Ohio Gov. John Kasich, who recently traveled to New Hampshire to test the waters, gets toasted by Trump in a 68-23 percent blowout among Republican voters in the first-in-the-nation primary state. And it’s worse for Jeff Flake. The Arizona senator falls by a 72-15 percent margin, according to the Suffolk University poll. And, finally, newly released state data reveal that 6,540 people registered to vote in New Hampshire on Election Day 2016 (Nov. 8) using out-of-state driver’s licenses. Washington Times: Over 6,000 individuals registered to vote in New Hampshire for Election Day Nov. 8 using out-of-state driver’s licenses — and since then the vast majority have neither obtained an in-state license nor registered a motor vehicle. Speaker of the New Hampshire House Shawn Jasper, a Republican, issued the findings on Thursday based on inquiries he made to the Department of State, which oversees elections, and the Department of Safety. Since election days, Republicans have charged that a significant number of non-resident Democrats, principally from Massachusetts, flowed into New Hampshire to vote illegally, tilting close elections to their party. Mr. Jasper’s findings give credence, though not outright proof, to those allegations. Washington Times: ... At of just after 7 a.m. Wednesday, with 89 percent of precincts reporting, 263,035 people cast votes in the GOP primary and another 231,311 voted in the Democratic primary. ... The Democrat total was well below its record set in 2008 when 290,000 voted.  Considering that Iowa and New Hampshire tend to be swing states this is bad news for Democrats.

Washington Post: With a second-place finish, Kasich is thrust into relevance Yet he still placed far behind Donald Trump in New Hampshire, and he faces less-hospitable Southern territory in the contests ahead. He also lacks the time to duplicate what he accomplished by camping out in New Hampshire and pandering to its high maintenance voters.  He also has to overcome his own persona which many people found annoying during the debates.

Both Sands and Trump were easily the top vote getters in their respective races, and as of this writing Sanders is ahead of Clinton by double digits.  In the Republican race Kasich has been in a tight race with Ted Cruz and Jeb Bush for runner-up.  Exit polls predict Cruz to be  second, but current returns have him at third.  Rubio is coming in fifth and the rest of the candidates are in the single digits with Carson pulling up the rear.

NY Times: Rivals Are Energized by Trump’s Loss in Iowa Caucuses The Republican establishment is closing ranks around a smaller number of candidates, attacking Donald J. Trump aggressively in hopes of cutting into his wide lead in New Hampshire. I think Ted Cruz exposed some of Trump's vulnerabilities when he went on the attack in Iowa.  Trump may see more such attack ads pointing out his inconsistencies on the issues.

Both immediately responded in exactly the same way: "I don't know anybody who supports him." They're politically active and aware, but they said they have no contact in their daily lives with even a single person who supports their party's front-runner. NY Times: A G.O.P. Majority in New Hampshire Pipes Up: We’re Not for Donald Trump These are the lamentations of the 68 Percent — the significant majority of Republicans in the state who are immune to Donald J. Trump’s charms and entreaties. It may not matter since New Hampshire lets anyone vote in its primaries regardless of political affiliation, but the point is that despite what appears to be a lead, Trump is not leading with a majority of voters.

Steve Berman: What On God’s Green Earth Is Wrong With NH Polling? ... Then came American Research Group (ARG) showing that Kasich had soared to 20 points, and Cruz was down to 9. And now CNN/WMUR released a poll taken by the University of New Hampshire Survey Center (disclosure: I’m a UNH alum) showing Kasich at 6 and Cruz at 14. ... It is clear that they cannot both be right.  It tends to reflect the fact that polling in recent elections has been off by a significant margin.   I am not sure where the Kasich votes are coming from.  When I see him in debates or on TV I just find him mostly annoying.  He seems to be in single digits in most of the other polls.

Guy Benson: Poll: Hillary Now Trails Trump, Jeb, Carly in New Hampshire and Iowa In Iowa, " She's down ten to Jeb, down seven to Trump, and trails Fiorina by 14 points in hypothetical match-ups.     In New Hampshire , Hillary holds a modest three-point lead over Donald Trump, but has fallen behind Bush and Fiorina by seven and eight-point margins, respectively." She is in trouble and it will be hard for her to recover.  Sanders actually outperforms her against the Republican candidates.

Daily Mail: Carly Fiorina scoots into second place in New Hampshire for the first time - while The Donald loses ground   The numbers in New Hampshire are looking nice for Carly Fiorina, who has jumped 10 points in one month. The former Hewlett-Packard CEO is now is second place with 16 percent of Republicans. The changes in the po;ls indicates the volatility of the race, but her move also suggest that the attempts to smear her by Planned Parenthood and their media allies is not working.   She also appears to be on teh list of candidates acceptable to the Koch brothers organization along with Rubio.
