Former Trump official joins AG Paxton in suing Biden over immigration failures

Karen Townsend: Lawsuit number seven has been filed by Texas Attorney General against the Biden administration. This one is over the increased risk of COVID-19 to the state produced by the surge of illegal migrants at the southern border. The crisis at the border isn’t just a humanitarian crisis, it is also a public health crisis as the coronavirus pandemic is still with us. Texas was the first state to sue the Biden administration. That  lawsuit  was over Biden’s executive order to put a freeze on deportations of illegal immigrants. Additional  lawsuits  followed the first one. The lawsuits included one which demands that Biden reinstate Trump’s  Remain-in-Mexico policy . That agreement with Mexico was very successful in easing the flood of migrants entering Texas, overwhelming border patrol personnel and law enforcement officers. Rest assured, Paxton will be a frequent filer. COVID-19 is a threat at  overcrowded border facilities  and intake sh...

Salaries are growing faster in Midland, Texas than in New York City and Texas does not have a state income tax to grab those earnings

Rig Zone/Bloomberg: The New York city area may boast the largest share of personal income in the U.S., but pay is growing the fastest in the much smaller oil-boom towns of Odessa and Midland, Texas, according to new Commerce Department data. Indeed, Midland’s per capita personal income of more than $122,000 a year was higher than that of San Jose, San Francisco, Boston or New York last year, the data show. Midland and Odessa -- bases for Permian basin shale production -- have benefited from a boom that last year drove the U.S. to surpass Russia to become the world’s largest oil producer. Still, personal income in the New York-Newark-Jersey City area last year rose to almost $1.5 trillion, or 8.3% of the U.S. total -- the largest share in the U.S. The NYC metro area was followed by Los Angeles with a 4.8% share and Chicago at 3.3%. Among the top 20 largest, Denver surpassed Riverside, California for the 18th spot last year. For the fifth year in a row, metropolitan areas in the ...

This is why OPEC is in trouble

Fuel Fix: The Eagle Ford shale formation produced its billionth barrel some time last month, analysts at research firm Wood Mackenzie said Thursday. That production figure includes crude oil and condensate, and more than 70 percent of that production has occurred in the last two years, according to the firm. ... The good news for the Eagle Ford is that many speculate that break-even price for production to remain profitable is around $50 in much of the play. West Texas Intermediate, the U.S. benchmark crude oil price, was about $66.34 per barrel Thursday morning. Wood Mackenzie projects exploration and production spending of $139.3 billion onshore in the U.S. next year. More money will be directed towards the Eagle Ford — about $30.8 billion — than any other play, according to the firm’s forecasts. ... The Eagle Ford in South Texas now accounts for 16 percent of total US production.  It also has the advantage of being close to the Gulf coast which makes getting the oil ...
