Washington Free Beacon: Beto O’Rourke Continues Attack on NRA, Pushes for Gun Control NRA says O'Rourke will 'vote against our constitutional right to self-defense' This looks like a tough sell in Texas.  When you add this to his support for open borders he appears to be on the wrong side of the voters.

Jazz Shaw: Just this weekend we were talking about the shifting definitions of “hate speech” in the eyes of the social media giants. My conclusion at that time was that the underlying (and admitted) liberal bias among the management and staff at Facebook and Twitter was always going to leave any proposed attempt at balance looking like weak tea at best. While this is only one of an uncounted number of stories playing out each day, another example cropped up this morning. NRA spokesperson Dana Loesch took to Twitter with some screen caps of a recent set of exchanges she had. One was a tweet from a “critic” who expressed some decidedly violent tendencies and the other was the response from Jack Dorsey’s crew after they supposedly “investigated” her complaint. Washington Times: Elizabeth Warren vows to refuse NRA money after never receiving such donations in the past The Democrats are pushing this promise on the false premise that people support the NRA because of campaign contributions.  The fact is that the NRA's political push comes not from its donations, but from the intensity of support for 2nd Amendment rights by its members.  It is unlikely that the NRA will be wasting any of its money on Democrats with an anti 2nd Amendment rights agenda.

NY Post: Donations to NRA tripled after Florida shooting While the donations are helpful, the real strength of the NRA is in the voter intensity of its members.  They will turn out and vote against those who threaten their rights.

NY Times: Trump Targets Obama’s School Discipline Policies The president has found an unlikely culprit in recent shool shootings: Obama-era rules meant to address racial disparities in school discipline. Many people on the left would rather blame the NRA than focus on the reason the background check system failed in this case.  As is usually the case when liberal policies fail they would rather focus on good intentions rather than real world problems with them.

NY Times: Source of N.R.A.’s Clout: Mobilization, Not Donations The group is often perceived by opponents as bankrolling its preferred candidates. But its influence is derived from a muscular electioneering machine. That is a mistake NRA opponents continue to make.  Much of the criticism of the NRA initially was aimed at donors.  Also as the facts come in it is becoming more clear that the problem was not the law but the failure at every level of law enforcement to enforce the law.  Obama moved to make local law enforcement less likely to file charges which if were on the record would have made it impossible for the shooter to acquire a gun.  The local Sheriff failed to file any charges despite 29 complaint calls against teh shooter some of which were serious enough to merit charges.  The FBI failed to react to a very specific warning that the shooter was planning a school shooting.  None of that was the NRA's fault.
