Democrat McCarthyism resurfaces after they lose 2024 election

The Hill: ... In the 2024 election, the traditional red state-blue state firewalls again collapsed, as they had in 2016. The response among Democrats has been to unleash a type of new Red Scare, questioning the loyalty of those who are supporting or working with the Trump administration in carrying out his promised reforms. Elon Musk is the designated disloyal American for many on the left. That rage has reached virtual hysteria on ABC’s “The View.” This is the same show before the election on which hosts warned that, if Trump were elected, journalists and homosexuals would be rounded up and “disappeared.” After the election, democracy seemed to stubbornly hang on, so the hosts had to resort to attacking as disloyal anyone joining the government or supporting Trump’s policies. This week, co-host Joy Behar followed many others in questioning Musk’s loyalty and attacking him over being a naturalized American citizen: “The guy was not born in this country, who was born under aparthe...

Biden shows no interest on compromise on debt ceiling

Fox News: McCarthy says Biden dragging his feet on debt ceiling: ‘They want a default more than they want a deal’ The government is expected to run out of money by early June Biden wants no ceiling on his reckless spending.  See, also: Just 27% Back Biden On The Debt Ceiling Fight

Biden budget a dud with House GOP

Washington Examiner: House Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) panned President Joe Biden 's roughly $6.9 trillion budget proposal as "not serious" and warned him not to "play games with the debt ceiling." McCarthy contended that Biden's budget proposal would be dead on arrival in the House and speculated that even Democrats "won't even vote for this." The speaker also reiterated his long-standing calls for Biden to negotiate a budgeting agreement with him to avert a debt ceiling crisis. BIDEN PROPOSES NEARLY $7 TRILLION TAX-AND-SPEND BUDGET THAT WOULD NOT STABILIZE THE DEBT "This budget talks more about equality and climate change than it does dealing with China dealing with fentanyl, dealing with putting our workforce back in the workplace. That is a real challenge," McCarthy said on Fox News's Sunday Morning Futures with Maria Bartiromo. "To have a nonserious budget and for a president not to show the leadership to sit down...

McCarthy puts pressure on Red State Dem senators

The Hill: Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) is playing offense by putting early pressure on Senate Democrats running for reelection in red states to back proposals being passed out of the GOP-controlled House. Senate Majority Leader Charles Schumer (D-N.Y.) must decide how much political cover to give members of his caucus running for reelection in states such as West Virginia, Montana and Ohio, with control of the chamber on the line in 2024. Schumer has taken shots at McCarthy and House Republicans in recent days, accusing them of pushing an “extreme” agenda. But McCarthy is punching back, hitting Democrats in states that former President Trump carried in 2016 and 2020. “We’ve got a number of bills coming up in the future: securing our border, producing more energy, stopping this COVID emergency across America so we can all get back to work,” McCarthy told Fox News over the weekend, citing bills that House Republicans plan to move along with legislation that passed last week t...

McCarthy questions DOJ response to Biden classified documents problem

Fox News: ... "Congress has an independent constitutional obligation to oversee all aspects of the Justice Department, and that includes special counsels as well. And so we will have a role in overseeing what's transpiring here. What's real concerning to me is how justice is applied and is it applied equally," McCarthy told host Maria Bartiromo. "How many years has this vice president, who's been in [public] office for more than 40 years, had these documents? Who's been in and out of there?" the speaker continued. "So, they apply a special counsel, but how many agents do they apply to that and applied to [former] President [Donald] Trump as well? This is just hypocrisy." CONSERVATIVES BLAST BIDEN OVER LATEST BATCH OF CLASSIFIED INFORMATION FOUND: ‘FBI RAID HAPPENS WHEN?’ Under immense scrutiny from Republicans, Attorney General Merrick Garland appointed a special counsel Thursday to investigate the now-found classified materials, which Bid...

GOP should be attacking Biden instead of McCarthy

Micheal Goodwin: As generations of students learned in typing class, “Now is the time for all good men to come to the aid of the party.” It’s a pity so many House Republicans either missed that class or forgot they were supposed to help their own party, not the other one. The GOP’s inability to elect a Speaker despite having a majority is more than a personal rebuke to the presumed leader, Kevin McCarthy of California. It’s a mark of incompetence and a worrisome sign the party is so fractured it will not be able to unite to accomplish anything of significance for the next two years. Instead of being a check on the White House and the Democrat-controlled Senate and using its investigative power to probe President Biden and his family’s corrupt business deals, the chaos suggests too many Republicans are freelancing and engaged in a fools’ errand masquerading as an act of principle. As such, it’s amateur hour and a mystery over what the holdouts stand for, in part because they don’t...

GOP House threatens Senate GOP that support Dem's big spending

CNN: As House GOP leader Kevin McCarthy forges ahead in his quest to secure 218 votes to be the next speaker of the House, he is vowing to take a hard line in the future against any GOP senator who votes to pass  the $1.7 trillion spending bill  this week. McCarthy  wrote on Twitter , “when I’m Speaker,” bills from any senator who votes for the spending package will be “dead on arrival” in the House of Representatives. He was responding to a letter from Rep. Chip Roy, a conservative who has not said yet if he will back McCarthy for Speaker. ... Roy and 12 other Republicans sent a letter to GOP senators on Monday saying that if the government funding bill passes, they would oppose and whip against “any legislative priority of those senators who vote for this bill.” McCarthy tweeted in response to their letter saying “Agreed. Except no need to whip – when I’m Speaker, their bills will be dead on arrival in the House if this nearly $2T monstrosity is allowed to move fo...

McCarthy to look into FBI speech police

Fox Business: Rep. Kevin McCarthy vows to ‘change the course of the FBI’ following ‘Twitter files’ bombshell Twitter files shed light on FBI involvement with social media's business practices As bombshell revelations from the "Twitter files" continue to come to light, concerns grow over the FBI utilizing private companies as a "political arm," as well as its role in censoring the "truth" from Americans. ... During the sixth and latest installment of the "Twitter files," Substack writer Matt Taibbi revealed that Twitter employees had near - constant communication with FBI agents from 2020 to 2022. "Why are they [the FBI] able to do this? Working together, using private businesses to go after individuals right before an election, denying the American public the truth?" McCarthy questioned. ... The FBI needs a house cleaning and McCarthy is wise to look into their abuse of the 1st Amendment.

McCarthy focuses on Biden border bungle

Breitbart: Rep. Kevin McCarthy (R-CA), the likely next Speaker of the House, will visit the border on Tuesday to spotlight President Joe Biden’s failure to curb the inflow of terror suspects and fentanyl. On “Tuesday, I’m going down to the border again,” McCarthy declared at a Saturday meeting of Republican supporters in Las Vegas, adding: We’re gonna get a new update [on the border] because you know why? When I become Speaker [of the House], we’re going to move a hearing down on the border, and I’m going make it bipartisan on both sides. Another promise I’ll make you — I will not allow [Biden] to ignore it. As Speaker, I’ll have the meeting there. Then make them all show and see what’s happening. Last week, Biden’s pro-migration border deputies announced they will not oppose a judge’s decision ending the Title 42 legal barrier at the border. Once the legal is removed, Biden’s wealthy deputies will allow millions more migrants to crowd into U.S. workplaces and rental markets. T...
