 Blaze: Police bodycam video out of Georgia released earlier this week shows officers with the Cobb County Police Department responding to a June 4 report about children trapped inside a hot car. "I am standing outside of the Dick's at Cumberland Mall, and there are two children in a car by themselves — small kids crying," the caller tells a 911 dispatcher. "The windows are cracked, but I don't think that's right. And we just came out of Dick's, and I heard kids crying." Worse still, police video indicates that while the outside temperature reached a high of 87 degrees that day, the temperature inside the car was 117 degrees. The caller estimated that the "little girl" inside the car was about a year old while the "little boy" was about 2 years old. Willis, who was disqualified from the case in December, has become the face of ham-handed attempts to jail Trump before the 2024 election, and her overzealous prosecution ultimately blew up in her face after it was revealed that she hired her lover to work on the case. Now, a mountain of legal bills accumulated by Trump could wind up being footed by Georgia taxpayers. The possibility became very real after Republican Governor Brian Kemp signed into a law a bill that allows defendants to recoup public funds in cases brought by state prosecutors who are later disqualified.  Bearing Arms: A sheriff in Georgia is praising the actions of an armed homeowner who stopped a would-be intruder from gaining access to a child's bedroom, while also issuing a warning to other criminals in the county. Butts County Sheriff Gary Long says a man named Abdul Aquil is in custody in connection with the break-in, and is lucky to be alive after his encounter with the armed citizen. Aquil allegedly first tried to gain entry to the home through a bedroom window with a child on the other side, but the child's father heard the commotion and interrupted the burglar as he was crawling inside. Long said the father of the child "challenged the intruder and the suspect exited the window." According to Long, the father then went to his room and got a gun as Aquil busted the living room window, trying to get inside.  Red State: ... So it begins . Georgia Republicans are vowing to sue the Democratic stronghold of Fulton County after it announced extended elections office hours on Friday. The threat came after the state GOP learned that election officials in the county, which includes Atlanta, are planning to open four election offices this weekend ‘to accommodate voters seeking to hand-return their absentee ballots.' "This is a blatant violation of Georgia law . . . which states ‘all drop boxes shall be closed when the advance voting period ends,’" the Georgia GOP said in a statement late on Friday.
