Brennan accused of using Harry Reid to get bogus dossier charges into campaign against Trump

BizpacReview: The “stop-Trump gang” allegedly used several methods to create a narrative of collusion with Russia, Chris Farrell, director of investigations and research at Judicial Watch, told Fox News’ Shannon Bream on “Fox News @ Night” on Monday. The group thinks Reid was part of that effort and is investigating whether Brennan leaked information to the lawmaker so that it could be made public, thereby creating a false narrative. Citing one example, Bream read from a letter from Reid to then-FBI Director James Comey in 2016, two days after he was briefed by Brennan. “The evidence of a direct connection between the Russian government and Donald Trump’s presidential campaign continues to mount. … The American people deserve to have a full understanding of the facts from a completed investigation before they vote this November.” Farrell noted that the efforts created an “echo-chamber effect” in which “everyone says” and “everyone knows” about the collusion because it is bei...

Congress hands Trump a big win on judicial nominations

CNBC: President Donald Trump should give special thanks to two U.S. Senators this Thanksgiving weekend. One is still serving in the Senate, the other recently retired. One is a Republican. The other a Democrat. And what should President Trump be thanking them for? Quite simply they have handed him one of the biggest victories any president could claim in the past 45 years. Yes, this has happened even as one of the most widely covered stories of the past year has been President Trump's difficulties in working with Congress. The growing rift between him and Republican Senators John McCain, Jeff Flake, and Bob Corker alone has made headlines for months. For a U.S. president to have this many public feuds with senators from his own party this early in his presidency is really unprecedented and makes for hot news copy. But that story ignores a bigger and longer-lasting development in the federal judiciary. That brings us first to naming the Republican gift giver: Senator Chuck Gra...

Harry Reid does the full blown Joe McCarthy on Trump and Russia

Washington Post: Harry Reid’s incendiary claim about ‘coordination’ between Donald Trump and Russia In a letter to FBI Director James B. Comey, the outgoing Senate minority leader says Comey may have broken the law. And that's not even the most brazen claim in the letter — not by a long shot. I put this right up there with the lie he told about Mitt Romney's taxes during the 2012 campaign.  Reid is a guy who is willing to lie to win.  It will be good riddance to see him gone from Washington.  This is an attempt to distract from Hillary Clinton's ongoing email screw ups.

The Koch brothers and Harry Reid do battle over his successor in Nevada

NY Times: Harry Reid and Koch Brothers Wage Proxy War for a Nevada Senate Seat The battle to choose Mr. Reid’s successor is pitting him against Charles G. and David H. Koch, who are trying to flip a Democratic seat and help Republicans seal control of the Senate. Reid is a guy with few inhibitions when it comes to politics.  He will say and do almost anything to win regardless of the facts.  He has insulted the Koch brothers on the senate floor for exercising their right to engage in the political process.   The country and the world will be a better place if they win this one.

Harry Reid challenged by junior senator from Arkansas

Daily Caller: Sen. Tom Cotton Goes Off On ‘Vulgar’ Harry Reid [VIDEO] This is a terrific speech that has been needed for years. He concludes his remarks by saying: ... “We’re delaying it for one reason and one reason only, to protect his own sad, sorry, legacy. He now complains in the mornings that the Senate is not in session enough, that our calendar is too short. Well, whatever you think about that, the happy by-product of fewer days in session in the Senate is that this institution will be cursed less with his cancerous leadership.” Tom Cotton joins Ted Cruz is the honest man club in the Senate.

Okay Harry, Trump is as bad as you and Obama

Roll Call: Reid Calls for GOP Leaders to Denounce Trump I do not have a high regard of Trump, Harry Reid or Obama.  All three of them have cheapened the discourse and engaged in demagoguery.

Man who took money from Trump tries to tie Republicans to him

NY Times: Harry Reid to Open Formal Anti-Trump Attacks on Congressional Republicans Mr. Reid, the Nevada senator who has been trying to yoke congressional Republicans with Donald J. Trump for weeks, will give a speech on Wednesday blaming Senator Mitch McConnell and the House speaker, Paul D. Ryan, for contributing to Mr. Trump’s rise. The Senate could easily thwart this campaign if they would just get over their hostility to Cruz who is much closer to the position of the voters then they are anyway.  The absurd suggestion that Cruz should apologize to McConnell as a precondition to backing Cruz would be opposite of what voters are looking for and would push even more of them into the Trump camp.  Voters are backing Trump because the Senate under McConnell betrayed them on issues from Obamacare to amnesty and spending priorities.  They are not fooled by McConnell's show votes against those programs while fully funding the mess. Backing Ted Cruz is their only chan...

The Democrats' desperate attempt to put a stealth liberal on the Supreme Court

Image
NY Times: Democrats Press G.O.P. to Consider a Supreme Court Pick In what appeared to be a political feint, the name of Nevada’s Republican governor leaked out as a potential nominee, as the Democratic power structure mobilized to break Republican opposition. If the Democrats were serious about wanting to name a GOP Governor who could get confirmed they would be pushing Texas's Greg Abbott, a distinguished layer who has had some experience in taking issues to the Supreme court.   Sandoval is a squish on abortion so he would not be acceptable to replace Justice Scalia.  I suspect he was not a serious choice, but was being pushed by Harry Reid to try to get some movement out of the Republican senators who oppose allowing an Obama appointment.  It should be noted that the NY Times was all for not approving court appointments in the last year of Republican presidents.

Harry Reid has zero credibility on political obstruction

Washington Post: Reid to GOP: For the good of the country, stop your nakedly partisan obstruction So when Reid was obstructing Bush nominees it was for the good of the country?   Besides being a hypocrit, he is just plain wrong.  The Republicans are right to stop a lame duck from imposing the evils of liberalism.

Harry Reid continues the gun grabbers big lie

The Hill: Reid seeks expanded gun background checks "The United States is the only advanced country where this type of mass violence occurs." This is a demonstrably false statement.  The Charlie Heddo mass murders in Paris are a recent example and France has much more restrictive gun control as does Norway where on man killed over 60 people mostly kids.  This is just another example of how Democrats are willing to make fgalse statements to press their agenda.  Reid was repeating a false talking point used by President Obama on the same subject.

Democrats refuse to allow a vote on cyber security bill to stop hacking

The Hill: Senate Majority Whip John Cornyn (R-Texas) lambasted Democrats from the floor minutes after they blocked a GOP attempt to link a cybersecurity amendment to a defense bill. “The refusal to move forward with this legislation, particularly the cybersecurity part of this discussion, is just unconscionable,” he said. The upper chamber on Thursday fell four votes shy of the 60 needed to move forward with attaching the anti-hacking measure to the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA). The provision contained legislation, known as the Cybersecurity Information Sharing Act (CISA), meant to expand the exchange of cyber threat data between the government and the private sector. Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) was trying to rush CISA through the Senate in response to the massive digital theft of workers’ data from the Office of Personnel Management, which exposed information about at least 4 million people — and likely more . “Our colleagues across the aisle have now...

Harry Reid chooses race baiting complaint over cheating

NY Post Editorial: Harry Reid’s disgraceful Deflategate take He would rather complain about the Redskins name than deal with what looks like outright cheating.  But that is not surprising since Harry Reid is a notorious cheater at politics.  The allegations against certain members of the New England Patriots is that they tried to get a competitive advantage by deflating balls to make it easier for the quarterback to grip them in cold weather.  The punishment given the quarterback by the league is almost exactly the same as for those who cheat by using performance enhancing drugs to get a competitive advantage. In 2012 Harry Reid used an outrageous lie to get a competitive advantage by alleging that Mitt Romney had paid no taxes.  Democrats also used the IRS to get a competitive advantage by abusing Tea Party activist and other conservatives.  So it is not surprising that Reid would be indifferent to cheating.

Logic of indictment of Menendez should also apply to Harry Reid?

Breitbart: In its indictment of Senator Robert Menendez (D-NJ) and Dr. Salomon Melgen, a Florida opthalmologist, the Department of Justice cites Melgen’s $600,000 donation to Senator Harry Reid’s (D-NV) Senate Majority PAC in 2012. That money, the feds charge, was earmarked for the successful re-election of Menendez, and was part of “hundreds of thousands of dollars and contributions to entities that benefitted MENENDEZ’s 2012 Senate campaign, in exchange for specific requested exercises of MENENDEZ’s official authority.” The indictment makes no mention of the additional $100,000 Melgen contributed to the Senate Majority PAC a mere two weeks before Reid arranged an August 2, 2012 meeting among himself, Secretary of Health and Human Services Kathleen Sebelius, and Menendez. At that meeting, Menendez advocated directly to Secretary Sebelius on behalf of Melgen’s appeal of an HHS finding that he owed $8.9 million for overbilling Medicare in 2007 and 2008. That advocacy, the indictment c...

The neo McCarthyites of the left

John Fund: Liberals Are the New McCarthyites—and They’re Proud of It Harry Reid is one of the leaders of smearing without proof and appears proud of his work.

Harry Reid's lack of integrity

Red States: The activist Left has given us ample evidence over the last several months that the narrative is more important than the truth, and Sen. Harry Reid (D-NV)10% all but confirms this in his latest interview. Reid, if you will remember, said the following from the Senate floor prior to the 2012 Presidential election: “So the word’s out that he hasn’t paid any taxes for ten years,” Reid said. “Let him prove that he has paid taxes, because he hasn’t. We already know from one partial tax return that he gave us, he has money hidden in Bermuda, the Cayman Islands and a Swiss bank account. Not making that up, that’s in the partial year that he gave us.” In the years that have followed since then, has Reid come to feel any remorse over his lie? After all, once an older Senator announces his retirement, sometimes he decides to be a little more honest in his views, since he doesn’t need to please people to get reelected. However, Reid still stands by his remarks. Courtesy of the Wa...

Man responsible for much of Congressional dysfunction is retiring

NY Times: Harry Reid Says He Won’t Seek Re-Election Good riddance.  Harry Reid has done more to thwart democracy than any leader in recent memory.

Harry Reid is killing more bipartisan legislation to help teh abortion lobby

Ron Fournier: If Democrats still hope to brand Republicans in Congress as the stubborn cause of gridlock, they must address a major headache. This problem also threatens the party's courtship of anti-special-interest populists. It undermines their claim to be champions of the poor. The Democratic Party has a Harry Reid problem. The Senate minority leader is threatening to block or otherwise undo a bipartisan, long-term plan to finance health care for older Americans, pay doctors who accept Medicare, and extend vital health care programs for children and the poor. Respected congressional correspondent David Rogers of Politico called the plan "a major breakthrough," and two top reporters at The New York Times declared the package "as politically remarkable as it is substantive." What is remarkable is Reid's chutzpah. At a time when most voters are demanding bipartisan results from a Congress with record-low favorability, when President Obama barely lets a...

Democrats continue to block funding of Homeland Security

NY Times: Senate Democrats Block Joint Negotiations on Homeland Security Funding A vote forces Speaker John A. Boehner to try again to corral an unruly group of conservative House members. As Harry Reid continues to thwart democracy, I wonder why the Senate majority does not consider the the use of reconciliation to pass the funding  in much the same way Reid did to get the Obamacare monstrosity passed.

Obama's lawlessness and Democrat support for it makes Congress difficult to function

NY Times: New Party in Charge, Same Challenges Congress is stalled in a tense meltdown that threatens funding of the Department of Homeland Security. Harry Reid continues to try to thwart democracy and the rule of law and supporting Obama's illegal actions.

The liberal way and the double standard

Rich Lowry: Patriotism deficit: It’s just the way liberals are ... Rudy Giuliani isn’t Nancy Pelosi or Harry Reid, who have both unloosed the “Un-American” bomb on conservative opponents without any risk of getting hounded from polite society. ... The liberal reaction to Giuliani suggest the quip hit too close to home.  It also makes me have less respect for liberals and the media that defends them.
