Administration fails to get political support for education program

NY Times:

Republicans See Political Wedge in School Standards

The Common Core, a set of national educational standards, is seen by some conservatives as federal overreach. But in contrast to the Affordable Care Act, it has Republican defenders.
This probably is one explanation for why Democrats are doing so poorly with married women voters.  They are not happy with how the program is effecting their children.  I generally think having minimum standards is a good idea, but they have to be standards that make sense and a top down approach without input from parents is not sitting well.
