Trump at Gettysburg
Washington Post:Instead of presenting a ‘groundbreaking contract,’ Trump threatens to sue accusersThe Civil War is the bloodiest one ever fought by the United States. It was one of the first wars where the mechanics of warfare outpaced the strategy and tactics. That would be the case with wars until the latter days of World War I when tanks and airplanes replaced the heavy and light cavalry that was no longer effective in the Civil War.
Losing by a sizable margin, the GOP nominee seems defeated and out of ideas when it comes to how to change his fortunes. And as with many of his litigation threats, the latest begs for a large dose of skepticism.
At Gettysburg Lee made a fundamental mistake in ordering a cavalry charge at dug in artillery positions on the high ground.
I think the best general on either side of the war was Stonewall Jackson who understood the folly of charging a dug in position and he was also more adept at maneuver warfare.
Whether Trump is losing by a sizable majority appears to be in dispute by the various pollsters, but he probably is behind. The media rarely attempts to be fair to him, and he is certainly an easy man to dislike. But his opponent is also easy to dislike and is a person who says a lot of things that are not so.
Suing the accusers is probably a smarter move than suing the media. They do not have a NY Times v. Sullivan defense and it is very likely that all of the cases are "she said, he said" with no other witnesses.
This story by the Washington Times is a better presentation of his proposed contract with voters.
