So why not give the Kurds heavy weapons?

Washington Post:

In what would be an important shift in strategy, the administration is considering providing arms and ammunition to a wider array of rebel groups in Syria amid growing frustration with the stalemate in Iraq.
Well they could go to Europe where military aged men are fleeing to from Syria and do a little recruiting.  Most of the so called rebels do not seem to be any better than Assad, al Qaeda or ISIL.  The only descent  fighting force in the region that has stood up to ISIL is the Kurds and they have had to do it with makeshift weapons because the administration is allowing Baghdad to disperse the weapons.  The opponents of the Kurds in Iraq and Turkey have lost their own legitimacy with their failure to actually engage the enemy.
