Drone used to attack Iran centrifuge production facility

 Legal Insurrection:

An attack reportedly hit a facility linked to Iran’s nuclear weapons program. The site being used for manufacturing nuclear centrifuges suffered major damage in the attack, the media reports on Wednesday suggest.

Reports indicate a rotor-driven drone carried out the strike on the Karaj nuclear facility.

“The attack was said to have been carried out by a small drone against a manufacturing center used in the production of centrifuges,” The New York Times confirmed.

The attack comes as Iran deploys advanced centrifuges to produce near-weapons grade uranium.

According to media reports, the targeted site near the Iranian capital Tehran belongs to Iran’s rogue Atomic Energy Organization. The regime officials claimed that the Karaj facility uses nuclear technology to improve “quality of soil, water, agricultural and livestock production” — a bizarre assertion for anyone to take seriously.

No country in the region has taken responsibility for the strike. Iran has repeatedly accused Israel of attacks on facilities aimed at derailing its advancing nuclear weapons program.

The Jerusalem Post reported the details of the latest strike:

A sabotage operation against one of the buildings of Iran’s Atomic Energy Organization (IAEO) caused major damage – despite Iranian denials, The Jerusalem Post learned on Wednesday night.

Although Iran has claimed throughout the day that the sabotage failed and caused no damage or casualties, the Post has been given strong indications otherwise, though it has no way to independently confirm.

The Post also reported that the attacked site was likely one of Iran’s centrifuge manufacturing sites, which meant a major setback for the Islamic Republic’s uranium enrichment program for nuclear weapons. (…)

Hours after the Post report, a senior intelligence official and an Iranian familiar with the attack told The New York Times on Thursday morning that the attack targeted one of the main manufacturing centers for the production of centrifuges in Iran, known as the Iran Centrifuge Technology Company, or TESA. TESA was on a list of targets presented to the Trump administration last year by Israel, according to the report. (…)

The Iranian Mehr News Agency reported on Wednesday that a quadcopter was used in the attempt to sabotage a building at the AEO, but failed and was eventually shot down.

The attack comes days after Iran took its sole nuclear power plant offline amid media speculations. The Russian-built facility underwent an “emergency shutdown” for “unexplained” reasons, The Associated Press reported on Monday.

In early April, an explosion at Iran’s top nuclear site in Natanz destroyed advanced centrifuges and severely crippled the regime’s uranium enrichment capabilities.

...

There are probably more countries than just Israel that oppose Iran's nuclear program which endangers the whole region.   There are also many Iranians who oppose this evil regime.  It is not clear that a quad-copter could do extensive damage without hitting some particular spot which caused an explosion that resulted in a larger explosion.
