France backs down on its 'climate change' taxes

France suspends fuel tax plan that sparked violent protests

“No tax is worth putting in danger the unity of the nation,” said Prime Minister Édouard Philippe. The move represented a major reversal for the government of President Emmanuel Macron, who is slipping in polls.
Those who are pushing for even more restrictions on the use of fossil fuels should take notice of the people's rebellion.  This was not Big Oil.  This was the people resisting higher taxes.
