Blame is also being leveled at Congress, by none other than Secretary of State-designate and Senate Foreign Relations Committee chief John Kerry, for not shoveling more cash to State. Kerry blamed "gridlock" — a code word for Republican, which doesn't address the fact that the State Department had money for an electrical car charging station at its embassy in Vienna, but not for added security at one of its most dangerous posts.
GOP Sen. Bob Corker exposed the absurdity, telling Mullen and Pickering, "I just don't understand. You talk about money, but you had 16 people there free from the Defense Department. They requested that they stay, and you denied that. I don't understand that."

Corker is right on this one. He has shown real leadership in cutting through the smoke grenades launched by the administration in trying to defend their failures. I think eventually the responsibility for this mess will go well beyond Clinton and into the White House where there is a consistent pattern of trying to ignore terror attacks and threats to our people.
