The Manafort and Cohen cases do not support any of the allegations in the Steele dossier

Manafort's case has to be a disappointment to both sides.  There was a mistrial declared on over half the counts brought by the Mueller team and none of the verdicts reached supports the central premise of the reason for Mueller's appointment as special counsel i.e. collusion with Russians to win the election.

Cohen's plea agreement is actually pretty weird.  I find it improbable in the extreme that he advised Trump that what Cohen was doing was a violation of campaign finance laws.  In fact, there are cases that have held to the contrary.  What Cohen did was avoid a much more serious charge of bank fraud of around $20 million and gave the prosecutors a bank shot hit on Trump that is unlikely to be persuaded and that will more than likely be rejected by the Senate even if Democrats bring it up on an impeachment vote.  In short, it was a political hit having nothing to do with Russian collusion and is unlikely to negatively impact Trump's base.

Democrats and anti-Trump partisans are likely to take what they can get, but it is unlikely to be enough to lead to him leaving office.  Mueller and the deep state never had a true crime to investigate.  They then set out to manufacture crimes and this is the best they could come up with?
