Saudi Arabia’s tactic could allow Iran to increase its role in Lebanon through its ally, the militant group Hezbollah.
But this is Iran's reaction:

When in recent years has Lebanon shown signs of stability.  Ever since the Iran proxy has come to power it has been a caldron of instability.  

Hezballah is Iran's mafia organization engaged in illegal drug distribution and mass murder attacks on Iran's enemies.  There is no reason for the Saudis to subsidize mortal enemies.
