Putin's unpopular war

 NY Times:

They Refused to Fight for Russia. The Law Did Not Treat Them Kindly.

Since Moscow’s invasion of Ukraine, hundreds of Russian men have faced criminal charges for avoiding battle. It has not stopped others from doing the same.

Thousands have left the country and of those who remained hundreds have made a "farewell to arms."

The war with Ukraine is one of the most absurd wars in recent memory.  Ukraine was never a threat to Russia.  Putin just wanted to reconstitute the Soviet empire.
