The pressure Hillary Rodham Clinton faces shows the demands she will have to contend with on a number of divisive domestic issues that flared up during the Obama administration.
The teachers unions oppose any reform that would make them compete for students and dollars and they have invested heavily in Democrats to protect their monopoly position.   They have done a lousy job of educating students, particularly in inner cities where Democrats are strongest.  Since Democrats are dependent on the monopolist for campaign donations they are the least able to push for meaningful reforms.  That is one reason why they push for top down control freak items like Common Core despite its political toxicity.
