A wicked curve ball eliminates Yankees as Astros move on to World Series

NY Times:

Behind Astros Win, a Killer Instinct and a Father’s Advice

Lance McCullers Jr. spun curve after curve — 24 in a row to end Game 7 of the American League Championship Series — and the Yankees never solved him.
When McCullers is own, his curveball looks like a strike and then drops out of the strike zone as batters swing at it.  Sometimes it literally skids on the dirt at home plate.  If a batter begins to take the pitch in hopes of it being called a ball, McCullers fastball looks just like and they wind up taking a strike call in the zone.

McCullers appears to be recovered from back problems that slowed him during the second half of the season after making the all-star team for his production in the first half of the season.

BTW, Lance McCullers Sr. was a pitcher for the Yankees.

The Astros have come a long way from when they were called the Lastros and the Disastros.  They are a mostly young team with a few veterans scattered in.  The players are very athletic.  Gorge Springer who made several leaping catches to rob Yankees of what looked like extra-base hits would probably make a great linebacker in football.  Jose Altuve at five foot six inches led the league in hitting this year with his compact strike zone.  Carlos Corea is a tall athletic shortstop who his with power.  Alex Bergman at third is also extremely athletic.  He made a perfect throw to get a runner out at the plate when the Astros were leading by one point.
