The courts internet sales tax mess
Washington Examiner:
Another reason to oppose the sales tax on internet transactions by companies with no brick and mortar connection to a state is that those companies get zero benefits of services from the states where they are not located. If they have a presence in a state they at least get police and fire protection from their tax dollars. But if their only connection is an internet sale they get little to no services from teh state.
After Wayfair, Congress must shield Internet sales from state and local taxesAmazon and even Wayfair are not the ones hardest hit by this decision. They were already paying sales taxes in states where they have brick and mortar locations such as retail outlets or distribution centers. For example, both have large distribution centers in Texas and collect sales tax already. Those really hurt by it are small businesses who do not have facilities outside of their home state. They lose one of their few advantages against the giants. The tax burden will actually help the big guys.
