Teachers' unions want to keep the poor from going back to work

NY Times:

Why Is There No Consensus About Reopening Schools?

Here’s what we know: With too many variables and too few studies, schools lack the
tools and data they need to strike a balance between education and health.
What is really happening is that the teachers' union members are getting paid for not working and poor people need the schools to be open so they can go back to work.  The teachers' unions are deliberately trying to hurt the US economy for political reasons.  There is no sound basis for their fear of infection from the children.
