Trump strategy against ISIS is working and media is trying hard to ignore it

Paul Mulshine:
Did you see all those front-page stories last week about how ISIS is getting trounced in Syria?

Neither did I.

In recent weeks I read more about the high heels that Melania Trump wore on a trip to Texas than I did about the positive developments in a war that was at the center of the foreign-policy debate in last year's presidential election.
...

That may be the reason that you need to go to military-oriented blogs like Lang's Sic Semper Tyrannis site to read how ISIS is being squeezed in Syria. There, you can read in infinite detail about the efforts to clean up what an Army spokesman termed "holdouts" in provinces such as Idlib and Deir al-Zor.

The work is proceeding apace, and the real story now is how the endgame will play out.

Not good for the Beltway crowd, said Lang. The establishment types wanted to remove Assad because he was too close to the Iranians and the Shiite militias such as Hezbollah. Now he's a lot closer to them - and they're a lot closer to the border with Israel.

His site recently posted a link to an article in the Israeli newspaper Haaretz describing how the Israeli government demanded that the Russians keep any Iranian or Shiite militia forces outside a 50-mile buffer zone from the Israeli border. The Russians refused, the article stated.
...
The endgame will still be messy, but the real reason the Trump strategy is working is not so much because the Syrians and the Russians are fighting, it is because Trump has freed up the US military and its allies from the crippling micromanagement by amateurs in the Obama administration.  He has authorized an annihilation strategy against the enemy and the results have also been an intelligence boon to the US and its allies giving tips on ISIS contacts around the world.

The few liberal publications that are still following the war in their interviews with those fighting it have to acknowledge that Trump's management style is much more effective.  I have been finding more information about what the US and its allies are doing in the British press than in the US mainstream media.  For US sources you have to go to the military publications and blogs.
