The high costs of socialism in Venezuela

NY Times:

No Food, No Medicine, No Respite: A Starving Boy’s Death in Venezuela

The story of a teenager who had gone searching for wild roots to eat but poisoned himself instead seemed to embody everything that had gone wrong amid a national economic crisis.
This is a self im[osed crisis by those who support socialism over common sense.  It should be held up as an example of the failure of the command economy model and not some random tragedy.   The evils of socialism are on display in Venezuela and they are even much worse than the bread lines in the old Soviet Union.  Yet many in academia remain blissfully ignorant of the consequences of a solution they are teaching young people.  They should at least be exposed to a point of view more grounded in reality.
