Obama's war with Putin could be over in weeks

Washington Post:
White House prepares covert action, sanctions to punish Russia for election hacking

The Obama administration is close to announcing measures to punish Russia for alleged meddling in the 2016 presidential election, which are expected to include covert action that will probably involve cyber-operations, according to U.S. officials.
A serious person does not announce a "covert action" against and adversary.  Russia is already under sanctions and it will be surprising if any new survive long after Obama leaves office.   Obama's claim is that the Russians apparently released undisputed information about activities of the DNC and the Clinton campaign.  It is the kind of information that would get US media companies a Pulitzer.

The current mainstream media is so far in the tank for Democrats that they would only be interested in the information if it made disclosures about Republicans.  But we saw the same media that published Trump's tax return which was illegally obtained at the top of the page, but mostly downgraded the Wikileaks revelations about Democrats.

Trump has indicated he will seek better relations with Russia.  He may get them by removing the covert action and sanctions.

The headline is misleading.  The hacking was of emails at the DNC and of John Podesta.  The election was not hacked.  To suggest that it was is just wrong.  There is no evidence that any votes were hacked.  There is also little evidence to suggest that the Wikileaks disclosures changed any votes.
