Iowa polls favor Trump

 Washington Examiner:

Nikki Haley may have moved into a tie with Gov. Ron DeSantis (R-FL) in the latest Des Moines Register poll, but a quick look at who Republicans say is their second choice shows she is not the one who can beat former President Donald Trump.

The top-line numbers show Trump at 43%, DeSantis and Haley at 16%, and Sen. Tim Scott (R-SC) at 9%.

But when asked who their second choice was, just 27% of DeSantis voters said Haley compared to 41% who said Trump.

Meanwhile, for Haley supporters, 34% say DeSantis is their second choice, while just 12% say Trump.

In other words, if DeSantis were to drop out, it would help Trump because DeSantis voters prefer Trump to Haley. But if Haley were to drop out, it would help DeSantis since most of her voters will never vote for Trump.

Additionally, when asked which candidates they were considering voting for, Trump and DeSantis were tied at 67%. Meanwhile, just 54% of Iowa Republicans said they were considering voting for Haley.

DeSantis also boasts the highest favorability rating of all the candidates. Overall, 69% of Iowa Republicans have a favorable view of DeSantis, up from 66% in the August poll. Trump is viewed favorably by a similar 66% of Republicans, while just 59% say the same about Haley.

I would vote for any of the three if they wind up being the nominee.  At this point, it looks like Trump is probably the favorite to get the nomination.  BTW, I also like Tim Scott.  If Trump is the nominee, he would be wise to pick one of these three as his VP, but that would mean he would need to refrain from his tendency to use insults against the other candidates.

Drones appear to be replacing jets for many operations.  The Russia-Ukraine war is an example of that.  Drones are often hard to detect and can be used for intelligence operations as well as for attacking enemy targets.  It would not surprise me to see drones engaging other drones in combat.  They also cost much less than manned fighters.

Apple's huge investment in US including Texas facility

Blaze: Apple announced a $500 billion commitment to infrastructure in the United States over four years, its largest commitment to domestic spending to date. Apple said it will expand teams and facilities in Arizona, California, Iowa, Michigan, Nevada, North Carolina, Oregon, Texas, and Washington as part of its new spending. With a new facility in Houston, Texas, Apple will reportedly double its investment in advanced manufacturing along with increasing investments in AI and silicon engineering. The company said in a press release that the Houston facility will produce servers to support Apple Intelligence, the "personal intelligence system that helps users write, express themselves, and get things done." ... The Texas facility will be for advanced technologies.   Texas has become a place that is very supportive of the tech industries.  Austin and Houston have seen much of the tech growth in the state.  Texas universities have been active in the AI field.
