Biden's 'inadvertence' defense for mishandling classified documents challenged

... "If you examine Section F of 18 U.S.C. 793, that also provides for gross negligence or carelessness."

That particular passage in law reads that "whoever, being entrusted with or having lawful possession or control of any document… or information relating to the national defense, through gross negligence permits the same to be removed from its proper place of custody … shall be fined under this title or imprisoned not more than 10 years, or both."

I doubt his handling of the documents was inadvertent  I suspect he thought he could get away with it and felt entitled to do it.  As someone who handled classified documents in the past, it was always made clear to me that there was no excuse for not keeping them where they belonged and failure to do so could lead to a court marshall.
