Texas and Florida prove the critics of reopening are wrong

Texas and Florida, the largest states that started to open up from lockdowns several weeks ago, haven’t seen a rebound of CCP virus infections, government data indicates.

Due to the virus’s incubation period of up to two weeks, the effects of the reopening wouldn’t have been immediately apparent. These states, however, started easing restrictions at the beginning of May. Three weeks later, the states appear to be on a path out of the pandemic.

Experts have predicted that even a phased reopening would cause some increase in the virus’s spread. While there’s some evidence of this phenomenon, the overall trend points to a decline.

The blue states will continue to have the shutdown blues, while red states like Florida and Texas get set for a big rebound of business activity.

I had to go to Houston yesterday and while it is not fully open, it is getting there and the freeways no longer look like something out of an apocalyptic movie.

29 % of companies say they are unlikely to keep insurance after Obamacare

Conn Carroll: A new survey of 368 midsize to large companies found that 29% of them are considering terminating their active employee health care plans when Obamacare is full implemented in 2014. Only 71% of employers surveyed said they did not expect to drop their health coverage, while 20% said they did not know and 9% said they were planning to exit. The latest survey, conducted by Towers Watson, echoes an ealier survey by McKinsey & Co. finding that 30% of private-sector employers were planning to drop their employee health insurance coverage by 2014.
