Is Obama trying to push the price of gas to $8 a gallon

While we sit on abundant oil and natural gas reserves, prices at both the wellhead and the pump are rising on fears of spreading Mideast turmoil and short domestic supply. But then, maybe that's the plan.

The silver lining for this administration in the gathering storm over the Middle East may be what it's doing and may yet do to energy prices. The average price for gasoline jumped nearly 12 cents a gallon last week to $3.287, according to AAA. But at the White House, that's not necessarily bad news.

Oil has surged to 2 1/2-year highs as the chaos in Libya chokes that nation's exports. Yet among the "full range of options" the Obama administration is considering as the Libyan crisis festers, and the lit match of discontent gets perilously close to Saudi oilfields, ordering the full resumption of domestic oil and gas production is not one of them. Why?

Energy Secretary Steven Chu has said that "any disruption in the Middle East means a partial disruption in the oil we import. It's a world market, and (a disruption can) have real harm on the price." And so, we would think, would the orchestrated and carefully planned disruption of domestic supply by this administration.

It's not just Mideast turmoil that has brought us to this point. It's also a deliberate program of restricting domestic energy to make so-called green energy more attractive and necessary, keeping an Obama campaign promise that energy prices would "necessarily skyrocket" on his energy agenda.

...
If that sounds familiar, it is what I have been saying for months. This administration is deliberately trying to strangle the domestic production of energy to drive up the price in hopes it will make less efficient energy look more competitive.

The Republicans should be hammering Democrats on this policy. This is one of the top issues that should be pushed for the 2012 election. It hits every pocketbook and lowers the standard of living for all of us who rely on independent transportation.

The fact is that alternative energy and alternative transportation is just not viable nor is it what voters want. Those voters should be given the choice of a policy that would make an all out effort to produce as much energy as possible for all domestic resources.

  1. "President Obama‘s top economic adviser said Thursday the White House is monitoring the spike in oil prices as a result of uprisings in Libya, but said that recent fluctuations aren’t likely to derail the U.S. economic recovery."

Now can someone please tell me how runaway oil prices that are basically due to the ineptness of the CIC (Clown In Chief) will not or cannot effect the current economy? Good Grief! They actually expect us to believe these lies!!!!!
As to the current administration and it's stand on oil production here (my apologies if I'm a touch uncivil in my ranting today), I'm not sure why anyone should be surprised ad this clown's stance as to the oil situation. consider the fact that it took our boy 8 days to get his head far enough out of his behind to even comment on the Libya situation. 8 days! In the meantime gas prices are flying through the roof! Yet, his so called administration has the gall to believe we the electorate are really dumb enough to accept their claims that inflation is not happening!

During his campaign, Obama was quite comfortable lecturing the electorate on the fact that he felt it was ok if gas prices when up to $5 a gallon or more. didn't matter to our wanna be dictator! Now as the Mid-East goes up in flames and he openly shows his disdain for Israel, he steadfastly refuses as you note to allow us to tap our own vast natural resources.

His ideology dictates we as a country must be destroyed and become beholden to the third world garbage that is now and has been calling the shots in the U.N. for years.

Our president is nothing more than a follower of a failed Marxist/Socialist system and on top of that every move he makes is also apparently aimed at supporting every radical Muslim order out there. As such, I see something much deeper going on here as to oil, although as always, it's just my view.
