Comey manages to anger both Democrats and Republicans

Resurgent:
Federal Bureau of Desperation

...
In case it didn’t occur to him, Comey just published a book called A Higher Loyalty in which he portrays himself above the partisan fray—the only guy in Washington who was able to navigate the tempest waters of both the Clinton email server follies and the Trump collusion saga, without allowing the pressures of politics to compromise his integrity nor that of the investigations. But now, he makes a statement so nakedly partisan that it blows his little toy boat right out of those waters—and calls into question where his higher loyalty really lies.

It also makes me wonder if Comey is afraid of where the House investigation into the irregularities surrounding the probe into Hillary’s email server might lead. A Democrat takeover of the House in November would effectively kill that investigation, thus ensuring that any questionable role Comey might have played would most likely remain buried—just as he assumed it would be, had Hillary won the election. History may indeed have its eyes on us, but it would seem as if Comey would rather have them looking elsewhere.
...
Comey seems uniquely qualified to anger both sides in Washington these days. The chances that Republicans are going to follow his insulting advice are remote.  Democrats have also told him to stuff it.

James Antle, III noted:
...
If recent former heads of the FBI and CIA were partisan opponents of Trump abetting or even inciting a "deep state" revolt against the president of the United States, how would they behave any differently?
...
The rank hostility of Comey and Brennan tells you their bias and animus toward the President impacted their judgment.
