Israel names Iran commander behind drone attacks on shipping

Israel has revealed the identities of Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) commanders who carried out last week’s attack on an Israeli-owned ship in the Arabian Sea. 

In a briefing to the ambassadors of the United Nations Security Council member states, Israeli defense and foreign ministers named commander of the IRGC’s aerospace force, Amir Ali Hajizadeh, and head of IRGC’s drone unit, Saeed Ara Jani, as the main culprits behind the suicide drone attack on an oil tanker that killed two European crew members.  

Multiple armed suicide drones reportedly hit the tanker, a tactic perfected by the IRGC — the Iranian regime’s military arm and a U.S.-designated terrorist organization — and Iran’s proxy terror groups in the Middle East. 

Other nations have confirmed the revelations made by Jerusalem. “Britain, Romania and Liberia told the United Nations Security Council on Tuesday that it was “highly likely” that Iran used one or more drones to carry out a deadly tanker attack last week off the coast of Oman,” Reuters reported on Tuesday. 

The news comes just a day after Iranian hijackers tried to take control of a tanker off the coast of Oman. “Iranians stormed an asphalt tanker and tried to take it to their home country but the crew sabotaged the engines of the vessel so it could not move,” The Times of London reported on Wednesday, citing UK government sources.

Iran routinely lies about its terrorist operations bizarrely claiming a religious right to do so.  While several countries have confirmed Iran's responsibility for the attacks and have given Israel a green light to respond. it is likely it will be another tit for tak operation that is unlikely to deter future attacks.  An attack on the commander like that Trump did in Iraq would be a good start.

Drones appear to be replacing jets for many operations.  The Russia-Ukraine war is an example of that.  Drones are often hard to detect and can be used for intelligence operations as well as for attacking enemy targets.  It would not surprise me to see drones engaging other drones in combat.  They also cost much less than manned fighters.

Apple's huge investment in US including Texas facility

Blaze: Apple announced a $500 billion commitment to infrastructure in the United States over four years, its largest commitment to domestic spending to date. Apple said it will expand teams and facilities in Arizona, California, Iowa, Michigan, Nevada, North Carolina, Oregon, Texas, and Washington as part of its new spending. With a new facility in Houston, Texas, Apple will reportedly double its investment in advanced manufacturing along with increasing investments in AI and silicon engineering. The company said in a press release that the Houston facility will produce servers to support Apple Intelligence, the "personal intelligence system that helps users write, express themselves, and get things done." ... The Texas facility will be for advanced technologies.   Texas has become a place that is very supportive of the tech industries.  Austin and Houston have seen much of the tech growth in the state.  Texas universities have been active in the AI field.
