Biden without cue cards walks away from questions about Afghanistan?

 Red States:

With Hurricane Ida hitting the coast of Louisiana as I type this, Joe Biden made an appearance at FEMA in Washington, D.C., today.  To the extent that he was able to remain awake, it was an impressive showing. Though, he did slow down quite a bit toward the end of his remarks (as you’ll see in the video).

Yet, it’s what happened after he finished speaking that has people talking. Prior to walking off, Biden claimed that he wasn’t “supposed” to take questions, which is a weird tick he constantly demonstrates whenever he finds himself in front of the press. Who exactly is telling him when he can and can’t interact with the press?

Regardless, he did decide to take an inquiry from one reporter. But when it wasn’t the question he wanted, Joe Biden’s patented anger and dismissiveness made an appearance, as he ended questioning and walked off.

Behold, the empathizer-in-chief.

Chocolate, chocolate chip.

Don’t you just feel the warmth and care emanating from the president as he snaps at a reporter when asked about Afghanistan, the current disaster area where 13 American soldiers were just murdered by terrorists?

The truth is, this is who Biden really is. It’s who he’s always been. The myth that he possesses great empathy is a media creation meant to parlay his personal loss into political gain. When faced with tough questions, even on highly sensitive topics, Biden often responds with anger, contempt, and sarcasm. Anyone would be forgiven for wondering whether the president cares at all.

...

He wasn't supposed to take questions.  I suspect that was because he still has no good answers and his staff is trying to hide his incompetence as best they can.  For some time they have been giving him cue cards or cheat sheets, but when it comes to his Afghan screw-up that is too big a challenge to fit an answer on a 3 x 5 cart in a readable typeface.  Recently his only extemporaneous response have been about the flavor of his ice cream.
