New York Mayor indicted following complaint about migrant crisis

On Thursday, former President Donald Trump addressed the federal indictment of New York City Mayor Eric Adams, expressing that he had long anticipated such an outcome.
Speaking to reporters from Trump Tower, Trump reflected on the situation, connecting Adams’ vocal stance on the city’s migrant crisis to the mayor’s legal troubles.
Though Trump acknowledged that he does not know Adams well, he highlighted the mayor’s efforts to confront the migrant crisis in New York City. According to Trump, Adams’ criticism of the federal government’s role in the issue may have contributed to his current predicament.
“I watched about a year ago when he talked about how the illegal migrants are hurting our city, and the federal government should pay us, and we shouldn’t have to take them,” Trump told reporters. “And I said, ‘You know what? He’ll be indicted within a year.’”
Trump continued, pointing to what he sees as a troubling misuse of federal resources. “I was exactly right, because that’s what we have. We have people that use the Justice Department and the FBI at levels that have never been seen before.”
Adams, who is now facing mounting calls to step down, has previously claimed that his outspoken criticism of the Harris-Biden administration’s handling of the migrant crisis made him a target.
The crisis, which is expected to cost the city more than $12 billion by 2026, has been a central issue for the mayor in the latter half of his first term.
In a pre-recorded video released on Wednesday, Adams echoed his stance, stating, “I always knew that if I stood my ground for all of you, that I would be a target, and a target I became.”

That appears to be the response of the Biden DOJ to the political opposition of people like Trump and Mayor Adams. Congress and the courts should be looking into what appears to be an abuse of power. The Biden administration should be held accountable for its actions.
