Democrats and media are primarily the reason for Trump's popularity with Republicans

NY Times:

Fear and Loyalty: How Donald Trump Took Over the Republican Party

The president demands complete fealty, and as the impeachment hearings showed, he has largely attained it. To cross him is to risk losing a future in the Republican Party.
I do not sense fear as a motivator for Republicans.  I do sense a feeling of anger toward Democrats and the media who have treated Trump unfairly from day one and bragged about it.  He is implementing policies that many Republicans have been wanting for decades.  He has been falsely accused of being a traitor in order to stop the GOP agenda.  Those pushing impeachment are a disgrace to the country.  It is just a never-ending mish-mash of false charges and a search for a rationale to justify an unjustifiable agenda.  Most Republicans are unlikely to ever support any Democrat for any office again.  That is not out of fear, but out of anger at what the Democrats are doing to the President.
