Sunni tribe joins Iraqi forces in defeat al Qaeda attack

Iraqi security forces, backed by Sunni tribesmen, clashed yesterday with an Al Qaeda unit near the Syrian border killing all 21 militants, police said.This is another example of how al Qaeda has lost not only the hearts and mind battle but is also losing its war of intimidation against fellow Sunnis. It is now losing the ground war. Only the Democrats can bail them out at this point.The fighting, near Qaim town in Anbar province began after midnight and lasted several hours, said Col Tariq Youssef, a police official in the city, 320km west of Baghdad.
The colonel said "a small number of the tribal fighters suffered minor wounds".
