Phony "peace" activist has flowers for Hagel

Journal-Star:

Peace mom Cindy Sheehan, whose son was killed in Iraq, said Monday opponents of the war are the real supporters of the troops.

“We believe we are supporting the troops by wanting them to come home, and come home alive,” she said during a brief news conference in Lincoln.

“That’s why I’m doing this,” Sheehan said. “I say supporting the war doesn’t support the troops.”
Sheehan, 49, gained international attention in 2005 when she camped near President Bush’s home in Crawford, Texas, while he was on vacation. He declined to meet with Sheehan during her 30-day peace vigil. Since then, she has become perhaps the most recognizable face in the peace movement.

Wearing an “impeachment” T-shirt framed by the words “Lying,” “Spying,” “Torture,” and “Katrina,” Sheehan showed up at the Federal Building to promote legislation that would permit taxpayers who are conscientiously opposed to war to divert all their federal tax payments to non-military expenditures.

Sheehan thanked Sen. Chuck Hagel for “his principled stand against the war in Iraq.” She had planned to deliver a small bouquet of flowers to his office, but didn’t make an appearance there.

Hagel was in Washington after spending the weekend in Iraq.

...
Sheehan is not very smart but she is deeply dishonest. Retreat does not translate into peace. Besides that she is not really for peace. She has never tried to get the other side to stop fighting. Nor will they if we retreat. She is just against our side of the war, not theirs. It is too bad Chuck Hagel was not around to receive her bouquet. He is worthy of her dishonest embrace.
