Nothing improper?

Alberto Gonzales makes his case on the "scandal" over the firing of a few US attorneys. I think he is an honest guy and I agree that he and the Justice Department did nothing improper in firing a few folks.

However the investigation by the Democrats has been improper from the beginning. It has been characterized by bad faith and political motives. One of its underlying themes has been to discredit investigations of voter fraud cases. It has been aided and abetted in that goal by media reporting and editorializing suggesting that voter fraud is not important and Republicans really want to deny access to the polls to Democrats. This is based on the preposterous suggestion that voter ID will bar people from voting who have to present ID to get anything from welfare to cashing checks, not to mention driver's licenses.

The NY Times weighs in again today with another one of its editorial board fantasies about voter suppression and what it suggest is a "minor problem" of voter fraud. Of course it is always a minor problem to the Times since it always benefits Democrats. If the times were not so shameless they might recognize their conflict of interest on this subject.
