Murder suicide at NASA Building 44
For several years I lived a block from the back gate of NASA. Some of the smartest people in the world live and work in the area. The local high school had the highest number of merit scholars in the country suggesting that they came from a pretty good gene pool.
Despite the recent strange behavior of a female astronaut the people working for NASA and the contractors are very sharp and responsible citizens. That makes the strange incident this afternoon where a man killed one person taped up a female hostage before killing himself all the more unusual. The Houston Chronicle is actively updating its story on the event.
The man with the gun is described as a contractor with Jacobs Engineering, Inc. Police are now executing warrant at a home in the 4000 block of Jade Meadow. The chronicle says court records indicate the home is owned by William Arthur Phillips, Jr. A neighbor said the man lived alone.
