Biden overwhelmed the system with illegals

A government watchdog report revealed that the Biden administration admitted over 800,000 noncitizens into the U.S. through parole programs without a clear plan to manage their temporary status. From July 2021 to January 2025, the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) implemented these initiatives, but the DHS Office of Inspector General (OIG) found no structured process to track or address parole expirations.

The OIG report highlighted that DHS agencies, including Customs and Border Protection (CBP), U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services, and Immigration and Customs Enforcement, lacked designated units to oversee parolees whose authorized stay had ended. As a result, many remained in the U.S. without legal status, with no enforcement actions taken against them.

Under the Immigration and Nationality Act, DHS can parole noncitizens into the U.S. temporarily for humanitarian or public benefit reasons on a case-by-case basis. However, the Biden administration’s expansive use of parole programs, including the CHNV initiative for Cubans, Haitians, Nicaraguans, and Venezuelans, brought in over 530,000 individuals. Other programs, like Uniting for Ukraine and Operation Allies Refuge, paroled 230,000 Ukrainians and 77,000 Afghans, respectively.

The absence of a robust monitoring system meant DHS could not ensure parolees adhered to their temporary status, leading to an increase in unauthorized presence. The OIG warned that this issue could worsen as more parole periods expire without pathways for legal residency.

The Biden administration’s parole efforts, launched during a historic immigration surge, faced scrutiny for their scale and lack of follow-through. In contrast, the Trump administration, upon taking office in 2025, swiftly dismantled these programs. In March, DHS Secretary Kristi Noem announced the termination of the CHNV program, citing its lack of public benefit.

The Supreme Court upheld this decision in May, allowing the revocation of legal status for CHNV participants. Additionally, the Trump administration ended the CBP One app, which had facilitated asylum applications at the border, and repurposed it into the CBP Home app for self-deportation.

I suspect Biden allowed the immigration surge in hopes that they would turn out to be Democrat voters. Biden apparently did not care that he was overwhelming the immigration system.  Trump returned the US immigration system to sanity.

Drones appear to be replacing jets for many operations.  The Russia-Ukraine war is an example of that.  Drones are often hard to detect and can be used for intelligence operations as well as for attacking enemy targets.  It would not surprise me to see drones engaging other drones in combat.  They also cost much less than manned fighters.

Apple's huge investment in US including Texas facility

Blaze: Apple announced a $500 billion commitment to infrastructure in the United States over four years, its largest commitment to domestic spending to date. Apple said it will expand teams and facilities in Arizona, California, Iowa, Michigan, Nevada, North Carolina, Oregon, Texas, and Washington as part of its new spending. With a new facility in Houston, Texas, Apple will reportedly double its investment in advanced manufacturing along with increasing investments in AI and silicon engineering. The company said in a press release that the Houston facility will produce servers to support Apple Intelligence, the "personal intelligence system that helps users write, express themselves, and get things done." ... The Texas facility will be for advanced technologies.   Texas has become a place that is very supportive of the tech industries.  Austin and Houston have seen much of the tech growth in the state.  Texas universities have been active in the AI field.
