Why should Republicans protect Mueller?

Washington Post:
Trump’s increasingly confrontational approach to Mueller enabled by GOP lawmakers’ timidity

Republican leaders have no appetite for a showdown with President Trump over legislation to protect special counsel Robert S. Mueller III. That means Trump likely will continue to push the boundaries to see what he can get away with.
The President has the right to defend himself from an abuse of power by Mueller and those who are supporting the coup attempt against him.

At this point, Mueller has wandered far off his assignment to investigate Russian collusion and he now is just looking for an unspecified crime on which to hang a coup plot.  He has brought 1000 charges and not one of them involves Russian collusion.  He has got nothing and appears to be trying to extort testimony out of some of the people he charged by bringing them to financial ruin.  That appears to be what many at the Washington Post would like to see.  That is not justice it is rationalizing a coup attempt.

It is time to stop this charade of an investigation.
