NY Times:

Amtrak Wreck Took Place at 100 M.P.H., Investigators Find

The Amtrak train that derailed in Philadelphia on Tuesday night, killing at least 7 people, was traveling at twice the speed limit on that stretch of track, according to the National Transportation Safety Board.
This will create quite a liability issue for Amtrak.  Which means tax payers maybe on teh hook for much of the damages caused by a speeding train.
